Mydreamfever - 2. Blue Lucent Reverie
94

This 2nd addition to this god knows what series Mydreamfever (Parannoul) is on is obviously way different but even more thrilling than Silence Is The New Noise. He states that this is his own attempt at 'ambient pop' which I honestly almost fully agree with. However, it is also very indietronica and electronic/art pop within that ambience. The Bjork influences are obvious but achieved tastefully.

The intro ambient Dehwa feels almost like the transition from the previous project to ... read more

Aphex Twin - Syro

An eccentric and focused return onto a mature version of the glorious techno and electronics that Richard has been known for. The grammy was definitely deserved.

Insanely intricate drum patterns along side some of the greatest and rubbery melodies and loops of the decade.

Mydreamfever - 1. Silence Is the New Noise

I think i need to give this a relisten. However, the fact he got the idea for this album just from hearing a sound from his computer probably resonated with him heavily in the moment in regards to the idea of sounds in a supposedly silent space.

'Silence Is the New Noise, Frequency Is the New Melody" is a 30 minute gargantuan soundscape of a song. It includes whirring sounds of what seems to be the laptop he mentioned along side shuffling and as the title suggests - silence. It ... read more

I won't go through in much detail. But i ADORE the ambient-piano cuts. The more energy-inducing and drill-bass tracks are also mostly great. Some of his best songs ever on this (and some of the most iconic songs) specifically QKThr and Bbydhyonchord. Also Cock/ver10, Avril 14th, Jynweythek and Meltphace 6 are massive highlight.

Mydreamfever - Rough and Beautiful Place
98

This is such an insane project to have in-between "To See the Next Part of the Dream" and "After the Magic". It detours from the usual shoegaze and indie aesthetics that Parannoul is known for. He uses this alias to give himself time to explore the powers of piano and ambience.

Sprout is the longest track (14 mins) and wraps you into almost what the reason for the albums existence is - a form of growth and finding peace in the outside. That idea was evermore powerful due to ... read more

Mydreamfever - 4. Mountain Still Breathing

Still need to listen to the previous projects. However i decided to give this a try as soon as i found out it was Parannoul (my favourite shoegaze artist and just a personal favourite artist of mine). I did NOT know bro had several pseudonyms - one of them being Huremic?????????????????? Anyways I plan on giving this a relisten after going through the other projects chronologically.

I found it to be a generally measured piece of folk that feels like you're being transcended into the ... read more

i mean it's pure ambience and it works so i have no problems and facts why is bro stuttering like speak up - i i i i

edit because i didn't articulate what i was feeling properly at all before:

the ambience is phenomenal. Probably the best ambience you'll hear all year (along side some other amazing projects)
I had it rated as an 100, but it seems wrong when it's there on a list when it's just extras for the incredible Vanisher, Horizon Scraper
I rated vanisher ... read more

I respect the creativity and intuition to be more "crazy" and boisterous with performances across the project. However, it is easily the worst part of the album. Production across the tracks are generally great and sometimes even surreal and pushes for a more cinematic and versatile experience. Raging Love and Racks Blue definitely being the best tracks. More Painting has such an obnoxious beat so yeah that's the worst.

C418 - Minecraft - Volume Alpha

i dont evne know what guys want me to say for this. It makes life feel beautiful.

J. Cole - The Fall-Off

everything is sooooooooooo gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood. I love the concept of going back home to the "ville" at two very different time periods in his life. I think the deep cuts are insane. The production is arguably perfect across the record. Only You is by far the worst but not because it's actively bad, singing is just not his strong suit and it has the worst production too.

The "bangers" like 'Old Dog' and 'WHO TF IZ U' are some ... read more

Quadeca - Vanisher, Horizon Scraper (The Extended Cut)

Beautiful, a conceptual heap that is worth every second. A journey. An adventurous entrapment into a man chasing the horizon.

Big Thief - Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You

The peak of indie folk this decade. Seasoned with undeniably pretty guitars, soft and warm vocals with depressively poignant themes and personally engaging lyrical content. It's an elongated album but in the best way possible, it places you in a sort of charming forest of echoing sounds with mixtures of folk, country and americana aesthetics. I haven't made any detailed reviews like this but this album is genuinely so soothing and stress-freeing. Perfection.

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory

like it's just jazz rap perfected, pioneered and executed with the exact finesse you'd want it to be

Cindy Lee - Diamond Jubilee

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD THIS ALBUM IS GENUINELY PERFECT IT'S SO EMOTIONAL AND TENDER AND THE TEXTURES AND FEEDBACK ACROSS THE ALBUM ARE SO ENTICING AND ENTRANCING. IF YOU HEAR ME CRYING IS ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER.

Sade - Love Deluxe
