JPEGMAFIA - I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU

It's JPEGMAFIA once again releasing one of the most chaotic, yet cohesive albums of 2024. I really can't decide if I like this or LP! more. While I generally prefer LP!s instrumental palette, it's a little more bloated than I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU in some cases, clocking in at a runtime of 55 minutes.

JPEGMAFIA never made just straightforward rap exclusively, however, he really gets into his rock bag here with more guitar beats and mostly heavier drums (for those who have ... read more

Not every song on this album is flawless, but it's just way too much fun for me to dislike it. Every song on here is at least decently enjoyable. The only track I'm not too fond of is Arrow Of Love, which pretty much only works at concerts. Pump It and We Got The Moves, two of the singles to promote this album, are some of the most relentless bangers this band has ever made. Spaceman and Tekkno ... read more

I mean, what's there to say about this project that hasn't been said already? For his second album ever, this is pretty fucking fantastic. The orchestral instrumentation all over it gives it a very luxurious and elegant feeling. Kanye is also probably at his most humble point in terms of writing on Late Registration, openly talking about black struggle among many other things. For example, the track Roses describes a near-death experience his grandmother had and how a nurse would rather ask him ... read more

Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak

One of the most influential and groundbreaking records in the rap genre, laying the groundwork for many SoundCloud artists nowadays along with Kid Cudi who also had a huge influence on the newer generations, specifically people like Trippie Redd, Lil Uzi Vert or Travis Scott.

That being said, it's definitely more inconsistent than some other Kanye albums like MBDTF.
This album has really high highs, for example Say You Will (even though the outro is definitely too long) or Welcome To ... read more
