I was going to write a much longer review for this album, but I am tired. They should never have given Jeremy the lead on this album. He does not have the range to carry an album. They also should not have shut out band members from the writing process while hiring writers from L.A. The album isn't god awful, but does not feel genuine at all. Parts of the album are so dam generic to striaght up cheesy. The best stretch of the album is All Out, Ritual, and When You're Gone. It ... read more
I have been a Mars Volta fan for a very long time. I originally discovered them back in 2005 when they opened for System Of A Down, and it was a straight up life changing experience. I had never listened to music quite like that before. Such a beautiful arrangement of organized chaos. Imagine rating a peice of work by a band that replaced it's much beloved deceased lead singer with a Scientologist that appeared at the side of rapist DANNY MASTERSON during his rape trial, anything higher than the 0 it deserves. ALSO, said former lead singer had mental issues due to being molested at the age of 7. The members in this band are terrible people.
This was my Aoty back in 2013. This was back when metalcore bands first started to really go back and try to revive that nu metal sound, and My Ticket Home takes that and makes it sound raw and it's just punky as hell. Super high energy throughout a majority of the album, but there is a slower grungey track, Head Change, a little over halfway through the album.
Lyrically, it can be quite simple, but that's alsi the point. The lyrics of the track, The Foul Stench Of Youth sounds like it ... read more
