came here on björk's recommendation of course, and this was a very pleasant listen! there were parts that put me off (i hate the babyish voice in the little lord faulteroy mix, and the outro of funny little man was not necessary) but i still had a nice time with the rest of this EP. as with most instrumental-heavy projects for me, i found my mind wandering and struggling to stay focused on immersing myself in the music, but i think that's more just me having a bad attention span ... read more

Maybe next time

Still one of the most impressive debut EPs from any artist I've seen - the level of production is immaculate on every single track.

the low rating kind of perplexes me - the beat goes hard and has tons of replay value. i just think it drags on a little too long by the end, like they could've cut the spoken outro and maybe shortened the verses as there's a lot of dead space between lines.

Well, after 2 years of the odd single and very little content, we finally have MEMA's first studio album "Leve♀Escuro". And what do I think?

So good, although it loses momentum in the middle with some duds and unnecessary interludes. The singles are the highlights strangely, but the album really does pick up steam again with the last few tracks.

A mixed bag again from 100 gecs. Good to know they're switching it up but it's still just too much sensory overload for me - and some of the tracks are annoying/downright bad.

No skips. An amazing folk record with some of my personal favourite songs of all time. Her songwriting prowess is shown off, especially in the vivid imagery of songs like "Home" and "What'll I Do". The single "Knots" is absolutely perfect from start to finish, with an earworm chorus and explosive ending. The music video is also essential viewing with a very creative concept that never fails to put a smile on your face.

A pleasant listen from an underrated artist. Maybe a little reliant on her charming delivery.

Oh Gabbie, what is this?

So I'm one of the only Gabbie fans left (solely for nostalgic reasons, I do not support her actions after Herpesgate) and I was relieved that she was going back to her pop sound after the disaster that was the Trauma Queen era, and this was such a disappointment. A mixed bag. I do usually enjoy this genre but the vocal effect is just so irritating that it ruins the listening experience for more lyric-heavy tracks

Is this meant to be satire?

A solid track from Gabbie, and a return to her pop roots. Also a very impressive production from LYRE and a solid vocal performance from Hanna.

This is unlike anything I've heard this year. The orchestral instrumentation, the bittersweet storytelling and the dynamism of the record are all admirable. However I do think some songs are a lot more developed than others, and the 8-minute marathon "Spacetime Fairytale" struggled to keep my interest.

This is so in my wheelhouse sonically that I'm quite biased in its favour, but that doesn't change the fact I love this record. Sure, it's not lifechanging, but it's very cohesive and well-done. It has a particularly strong start but has a noticeable lull after the title track "Demoni" that picks up again by the finish line. I'm excited to see what they do at Eurovision.

Quite frankly unlistenable. Every song is recorded on a potato, the vocal performance from Janet MIDonner is shocking, and you can't overlook the clear lack of practice and effort put into this project. For this reason, I have to give it what it deserves.

such a good concept album with fantastic imagery and a very distinct yet familiar sound. the percussion is flawless as ever, and a few of the deepcuts are some of the best of the genre this year.
