(Just a couple of rough notes. I plan on coming back and giving a better review later)
Lord knows it's hard to find good Gospel, with most of it sounding corny, cliche, or disingenuous. This album is none of those. It's energetic, fun, and easily some of the best gospel out there. It does such a good job of making you feel truly connected with God, while also being good music all around. Truly timeless, and 100% worth a listen for such a short yet powerful album
soaking wet rn fr
half convinced peggy only dropped this to mention the election. this. is. fucking. incredible. this clearly sounds similar to lay don my life's sound, but also still distinct, laying even further into the rock influences, creating this fucking masterpiece. The energy is so incredible and fun, and I absolutely love this. only issue is the "this generation" sample gets a little annoying but idc. hard asf, i want nothing more than to have someone to beat the shit ... read more
darkskin manson but better because there's less shit you gotta sit through
I have literally nothing of value to say that hasn't been said already so I won't say much. It's a bunch of really good tracks from the veteran era, with a couple of tracks that are just ok. Puff daddy is one of his best songs ever made, ski mask is hard asf, millennium freestyle and starrcade are ok but I wouldn't really want to revisit them, man purse is kinda weak, man purse would be a solid 7 if the first half of the song and the outro were just completely cut from it, ... read more
Not much to say about this, but still pretty cool. If you're anything like me and you've listened to all this guys albums 10 times a day for the past 6 months and you want something new, this is a nice change of pace. Nothing really stands out on this, but still a good handful of playlists. I'd love to see some of these lines get polished and put on official works, with it being packed full of gems, but it's not like peggy's discography ould be incomplete without this. ... read more
I'm back to liking peggy's music way more than i should in the most disjointed order ever :)
dear LORD did this album grow on me so fast. When i first head this album, the only tracks i really liked were scream in the mirror, sin meido, i'll be right there, jihad joe, and i recovered from this, thinking "wow, i'm not going to glaze peggy for this album this time".
I was wrong :(
I love this album, it's such a weird sound unlike anything else we've seen ... read more
Idk why so many people said this album was mid it's easily in kanye's top 3. This album is beautiful, so incredibly raw, and straight to the point. There's no padding, pandering, or general bullshit, which are things I've took issue with in kanye's past albums like college dropout. It offers this beautifully introspective view into Kanye's mind at the time he released this, showing both the beauty and chaos of his mind that eventually led to the state he's in ... read more
I get why everyone was so hyped for the release of the album, and how meaningful it is, but it doesn't change the fact that it's an album made out of whatever the could find from mac before he died. I'm glad to see this finally saw the light of day, but there's nothing all that memorable specific to the album. They did the best with what they had, and they really did make something out of nothing, but it just feels like it's missing something to make me keep coming ... read more
there's so little to say about this project that calling it a "shitpost project" feels like a complete and in depth review :/
It's cool to see that people are giving peggy's pre-veteran music a listen, but I think there are a lot better projects to check out than this one. Even jpeg regrets making this looking back on it, and it's not hard to see why. Pairing it with the movie that released with it doesn't help either, with it just feeling like a big edgy nothingburger. There's nothing memorable about this album, and nothing i'd ever ant to listen to again. It really just feels like a ... read more
This is by no means peggy's best project, but it always surprises me how little people actually talk about this album. It's a highlight of peggy's production in his early career, showing a lot of growth as an artist, especially considering this released pretty close to darkskin manson, one of the lowest points of his career. It's really cool to look at some of his earlier work, as you can really see peggy's musical and personal progression so clearly in his songs. With ... read more
Veteran very scary 😳😳😳 if there's one word i'd use to describe this album it'd be haunting. jokes aside this album does an incredible job of creating this unstable and unsafe atmosphere. Despite not being my favourite track I think that 1488 shows this best, with a very somber acoustic guitar sample turning into whatever the fuck "that" is. It's chaotic, rough around the edges, and at times so beautiful, creating this big disjointed mess that comes ... read more
This album is such a hard pill to swallow, but once it's down it's so incredible. It took me YEARS to actually start appereciating this album. There's so much going on and it's so easy to get lost, confused, and turned off when listening to this album, but one day it clicked for me, and it just started making sense to me. If you're new to peggy, and you dont understand this album, my best advice is to listen to it every now and then while keeping an open mind, and one ... read more
My friend told me this was a good place to start with Steve’s discography, and he wasn’t wrong. I think the project accomplished exactly what it set out to do, as it left me impressed with his talent, and had me deeply interested in hearing more of his music. My main issue with the demo is that it’s just that, a demo. A lot of really cool ideas but I wish most tracks were a little more fleshed out, but if that’s what I want then a demo isn’t the place I’m ... read more
🗣️🔥I live on the toilet because I stay on my shit🔥🗣️🗣️ This is easily my favourite 21 Savage album, but I still have the same issues as I do with literally any other 21 record. Writing is never a highlight of a 21 project, and he manages to talk so much while still saying so little. Maybe there’s a bit more depth that isn’t super clear to me on my first listen, but I don’t think he has some super deep hidden meaning when he starts rapping about literal ... read more
I haven’t listened to much Kali before hearing this album, but I really enjoyed this album. The first nine tracks do such a good job of putting you in this dream-like trance, with such an incredible psychedelic effect. There’s a clear tonal shift on tracks like muñekita, but I feel it keeps the album from feeling one dimensional. The album is really well done, from the vocals to the instrumentals, even if you aren’t big into genres like this album I would still highly ... read more
Word to Kurt this is one of the worst albums I have ever heard. This is my first Cudi album, and the good news is the next Cudi album I listen to is going to be way better than this. I was actually really excited for this album, and thoroughly enjoyed tracks like confused, but that excitement left as soon as it came. I’ve never heard an album feel more out of place on a record, and there were a lot of instrumentals I really liked that were quickly ruined by whatever the fuck Cudi was ... read more
This project feels like a step in the wrong direction. I recently revisited Rodeo, and thought it was one of the best trap albums ever done. However, Birds in the Trap doesn’t pack that same punch, and feels a lot weaker and empty than Rodeo. Throughout the album you can see Travis try a few different sounds and ideas, but not many, and it feels a little like the same on Rodeo but worse. A lot of the tracks feel a little empty, and I think a few more ambitious ideas would’ve made ... read more
Found this in a box of my parent’s old cd’s and I really love this album. It’s nothing revolutionary, but I love Charles’s vocals, and think they go well with nearly all the features on this album. However, there are tracks like “It was a good year” I wasn’t crazy about. I think the instrumental felt very overblown overdramatic, and the song feels bloated. With that baking said, there’s tracks like “Heaven Help us All”, “Here we ... read more
