Okay, now THIS is excessive.
The Strokes return with yet another single that's chalked full of autotune, something commonly seen in Julian's new style he's seemingly adapted. I'm not the first to say it, but it's just too much man. The instrumentation is solid, but it's overwhelmingly let down by the vocals that accompanies it.
The bonus tracks further expand on the already phenomenal album, "Wallsocket"
Fishmonger serves as an excellent starting place for April and her career.
Underscores has quickly become one of my favorite artists in the past month! This debut project has only reinforced that mindset, providing a lovely blend of genres, but primarily, ridiculously catchy hyperpop stands as the most prominent one. I've never listened to 100 gecs before, however; from the bits I've caught from them, it feels like they're written all over this release as inspiration, which I ... read more
Autotune please, Fab.
I'm excited for the next album from The Strokes! I don't mind the autotune being used here, but this song in particular feels like a strange pick for a single. There's not much going for it besides a catchy chorus.
Well... a definite improvement over their previous record, but that isn't saying much.
This project went over my head completely when it was first released, having given it a listen, I didn't really miss that much. It's quite a bit more refined than, "Like All Before You", however I still find it to be lacking any impact that will stick to you after listening.

Classic J shares some of her most vulnerable thoughts to the listener.
"it's fine to dream" is immensely personal, detailing the loss of a friend and all the self-hatred that came after. I had a good time reading the blog after each track and learning how much of a deep listen this project really is. While I think this is far from the best work J has created, the last few tracks connect the whole album together into something memorable and worthwhile.

The Red Vox album that stands out from the rest. Not in a good way, mind you.
I have an interesting relationship with Vinny's vocals. I don't think they're the best personally, but I tend to not mind, since many songs leading up to this album have often complimented his voice very well. Now, strip back all those instruments for one song, extend that nine more times. What are you left with?
Well... it's difficult to talk about. This album is pretty, touching and intimate, ... read more
A rather large leap forward in many aspects, while still lacking in others.
Easily their most popular, "Another Light" is sharp in its production and history, originally planned to be more bleak in tone during its creation! Random info aside, coming from their debut, this album is a huge step up. A lot of the sound here is simply pleasant to listen to, offering a balance of high energy, paired with moody tracks all throughout.
Sadly, Red Vox continues to fall short on existing ... read more
The beginning of Red Vox shows great promise in what they would deliver in the future.
It displays all the markings of what you would typically expect from a debut album, but I think it works in its favor at times, with Vinny's rough vocal delivery and all. However, the moments where the production and the delivery don't align end up being my least favorite parts of this project.
That being said, there's a lot of fun to be had here with catchy bangers and surprisingly good ... read more
"U" is the latest album from underscores, all centered heavily around its glitchy, electropop aesthetics.
In my opinion, it features her strongest sound yet! 💜
After April's narrative-driven, "Wallsocket", it appears she's briefly hung up the coat on curating a story in favor of simply making fun music. That concept could not be more evident here, as I believe this project has some of her sharpest production to date. This album is also rather short, barely over ... read more
Such a joy to listen to.
I can't speak a lot about the story of this album, but from the tidbits I've caught, it's beautifully painted that touches on many subjects, many of which see themselves repeated throughout. Even without tuning into the story, you are met with so many unique sounds thrown at you that you can't help but click with as soon as you heard them!
Expecting the upcoming album to be nothing short of wonderful.

Yet another quality album by Mitski!
Not quite as experimental as I thought it would turn out to be, given the singles. It's more of her folk style with some rock tossed in between a couple tracks... and that's great! Her vocals and instrumental are incredible and stand to work well with this style of music, even if it tends to drag on towards the last couple tracks.
'If I leave' does something to me every time I listen to it, man...

Beautifully crafted, but not something I personally enjoy.
It's been well over a year since I've listened to "The Car", from extensive time to let everything simmer, I can conclude this style of Arctic Monkeys isn't for me, but I understand its place in the heart of fans who do enjoy it.
In my opinion, Alex Turner's vocal performance is the deal breaker in this era of his career, often disappointing or lacking performance. Sometimes, the instrumental makes ... read more
I'm sad to say this aesthetic and left turn has me finding myself wanting to go back to their earlier sound.
It feels like this album is set up for success with a sound that I normally would be enthralled by, but after giving it a listen, I feel underwhelmed by the end result. While it certainly sounds pretty here and there, a lot of songs simply miss the mark for me. Not a bad album, just not my thing.

Promising start, only to trample over and lose its way until the very end.
Such conflicting feelings, certain songs definitely overstay their welcome, but on the other hand, I wish Kevin kept pushing ideas forward and expanding upon this new scene that he's placed himself in. Instead, once you get a feel for what's in store for you, it never evolves and greatly loses its momentum as a result.
Despite its flaws: I still find myself crawling back to some of these tracks. There's ... read more
A backwards leap in CtEs' sound. Neon Pill is a forgettable and mundane experience.
While starting somewhat strong, the album takes a deep dive into boring repetition. It's not offensive by any means, it just simply lacks substance and after the first three tracks you've heard all of what Neon Pill has to offer.
And for reasons I don't understand why; Matt's voice in this particular record sounds awful to me, like his voice was recorded in a Pringles can, maybe ... read more
Colorful.
Imaginal Disk deserves nothing but my utmost praise. This dream-like and ethereal adventure began as nothing more than a random pick for me, something to put on in the middle of the night to cancel out the silence. I was immediately hooked by the consistency and flow of each track, the production is easily one of the best I've heard thus far. Not only that, but a lot of what you can hear can switch from something soft and beautiful, to hard and emotional, usually on the same ... read more
SMILE! :D made me sob like a little bitch and I'm all here for it :)
I was recommended to Porter Robinson by a friend, and judging by the genre and "Knock Yourself Out XD", which happen to be the first song I came across, I didn't really think I was going so engrossed in this album as I eventually became. This album was quite an invigorating experience.

While divisive, this major commercial hit of an album shares a surprising amount of clarity.
Coming off from what was a disappointing album for me, I had my worries for this one, many of which were confirmed to be true on a first listen! I didn't find myself interested in the new direction the band was heading, a lot of it sounded generic and something to throw in the background for filler noise. In the end, it made me hesitate on this review-
