Amazing first listen I just had, this level of multi-genre mastery easily outclasses almost every other example in the category before and after. Definitely on my Rushmore of trip-hop adjacent project.
I love almost everything about Chocolate and Cheese, a true encapsulation of equal parts weirdness and quality. Tracks 12-14 are kinda stinkers though and the only thing holding this back from being a 10/10 for me.
I normally hate contrarians so I’ll humbly take my L’s but I can’t get the Maruja glaze like others. While obviously technically skilled and polished Pain to Power comes off as so pretentiously overcooked and self-important where I don’t feel like it’s earned to me. #sorryyall
I’d like to stake my flag before this band is massive, everything they’ve put out so far absolutely rips. Shoutout Vegas, shoutout Appleseed!
