A vivid memory I have of this song is the DuckTales music video that exists.
I don't have much else to say other than this song (and melody) is nostalgic for me.
Something something "YouTuber intro music".
Look, Marshmello is basically responsible for getting me into EDM and music production so he's always going to have a soft spot in my heart. This album helped shape my tastes in music and helped me understand not only what I was looking for in the music I listen to, but what I wanted to do with the music I make. That being said, yes, the thoughts I have towards this album are fueled largely by nostalgia, but I don't see a point in ... read more
Not bad, but the song kinda just happens, it's weirdly ephemeral. That aside, it's a very good combination of Svdden Death's and Marshmello's identities into something both melodic, but dark and heavy
You gotta respect the fact that they made an album so bad that they made being bad into their brand.
EDIT: I feel the need to mention that this was the FIRST EP RELEASED ON SUBSIDIA. A label that already had a lot going against it due to having a truly overloaded collection of compilations as their first release. The one-two punch of those comps and this EP is a PR nightmare that I would never wish on my worst enemy.
This album honestly makes me realize how underrated Subtronics' ability to create atmospheres is. The intro's to all of these songs are very good regardless of what I think of the drops themselves. Other than that Though it's okay. I can't pretty standard dubstep/riddim for the most part with some notable (and very fun) exceptions. It's aight.
Oh, and Subtronics isn't very good at vocal mixing.
Edit: 70 > 65
eh
Sure is a Subtronics and Rezz collab...
Nice atmosphere, otherwise unremarkable
The quintessential dubstep album to me. If you want to understand what dubstep can truly be, then take a listen to this. Couldn't recommend enough. This is going to be the album I recommend to people who want to get into dubstep.
This is what people who don't like dubstep think what dubstep sounds like. Rico Act is obnoxious on this song, and the drop is obnoxious. There's better dubstep than this, there are better artists than Riot Ten, so don't waste your time.
EDIT: Riot Ten, you will pay for your crimes against dubstep.
This is probably what the peak of dubstep sampling looks like. None of the samples feel out of place and help enhance the songs for which they're used. This album has a character to it that makes it fun to listen to and truly immerse yourself in.
The fakeout drop and second drop are the best parts IMO. Other than that standard Subtronics.
This album shows Eliminates growth and maturity as an artist, all while not losing his sense of humor and signature sound. It's his best work since Cyber Whale easily.
(Also f_ck you is song of the year no diff)
