I barely have any time for reviews anymore but the Nevermeant guy likes mine so I guess I can do another.
I don’t have much to say but I will say that after many re listens and watching all of Peggy’s socials get thrashed on for this album, I think the hate is pretty undeserved. This is a solid album, with plenty of highlights. The problem is that Peggy has been branching out with each project since he’s begun, even before he was JPEGMAFIA. Every album is a new style, and I ... read more
It took me way too long to realize this is a perfect 100/100 album. Absolutely one of the most important albums in my life as I’ve listened to it for what feels like forever now, and not once has it ever got old. Just a myriad of the catchiest, most beautifully written and expertly composed songs of all time. I would go into huge depth, but I don’t think it’s really necessary. Suffice to say, if you’re not moving while listening to this album, you’re listening ... read more
The Money Store
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
This album takes everything perfect about the bands previous project and mixtape “Exmilitary” and cranks it up to 11. Exmilitary is also a perfect project in my eyes. So much so that it’s also a top 10 music project I’ve ever heard and I’ve spent a lot of time listening to it as well. So before I get into what makes The Money Store such an amazing project, I need to talk about Exmilitary. Released in 2011, Exmilitary was an ... read more
For being one of the absolute coolest concepts for a Gizz album, they really rushed this project and ruined its potential. The singles were so misleading when it came to the quality I expected. This is really one of the most boring gizz albums in a long time. The production is a mess, and everything is buried on top of everything else. The album really does feel just like b sides with a confused orchestra. Still, King Gizzard has never truly made a “bad” album. I’m sure it ... read more
I decided to try one more time to give this album a chance. I actually used to love this album. That is, back in middle school. Ever since then this project, as well as Tally Hall, just lost their touch on me. I couldn’t listen to them anymore without absolutely cringing at how hard they tried to be “experimental” and “deep”. However, it’s been a while since I actually sat down and listened to this, so let me go through each song one by one and breakdown my ... read more
Features some of the bands best songs, but with more inconsistency to its track list compared to Frizzle Fry or Pork Soda.
(If you can’t tell, I’m seeing Primus in July so I’m doing my research)
I had listened to this album front to back many many times in the past, yet always found myself drawn to most of the other Aphex Twin project. The main appeal to this project for me was that there were many of its songs I would always listen to before going to sleep. However, the more I sat down and truly listened to every track, I started truly grasping that this was both the greatest Aphex Twin album, as well as the best ambient album I’ve ever heard in my life. There’s such a ... read more
It has cool secrets and an element of mystery to it, but it’s far from the best electronic music I’ve heard. Still pleasantly surprised however
While it’s not as tight of a track list as CLPPNG, nor as immersive an experience as Visions of Bodies, this is definitely one of their best albums. I really hope they continue with this cyberpunk style, because it really suits them. I just wish some of these shorter songs were more fleshed out.
Is it just me or is this band pretty good or something? But seriously, I am so so so excited for this album. This is probably the best possible cover art to use for the “final” swans album. Hard af
When it first came out, I wrote this off as another bland pop album that couldn’t compete with the other fantastic albums that had come out. However, I think Sabrina has a LOT of potential, and these songs are pretty great. I’m excited to see where she goes next.
As of writing this review, the cover art is now redder than it originally was? Okay little rant, but the way he changed the cover art from the og one makes it not even fit into “the trilogy” but at the same time, that original cover was really boring. Basically, I’m mad cause the cover art isn’t good enough for being The Weeknd’s “final album.” Anyway onto the real review:
I know that this is a late review, but on my first listen of this album, I was ... read more
This final (most likely) Mac Miller album doesn’t meet the quality of his last posthumous record for me. However, Circles is one of my all time favorite albums period, so it didn’t have much of a chance to compare. However, this is still solid on its own. It’s a mixed bag of quality for me, but i appreciate the experimental nature of it, and the overall toned down atmosphere. RIP MAC. ❤️
Easily one of FJM’s most gorgeous works. Almost forgot about listening to this. Glad I didn’t!
