Aside from a few tracks, it mostly fails at being compelling in any way, from the lyrics to the instrumentation
in some years ill have my own sailboat and sail. thanks quad for changing my life!
flooded the face, suicide doors, crush em, amped, died and came back, that fiya, fire alarm, and patience. all great songs
step down from the first single but still better than most of their stuff imo. excited for the album fs, i think it'll be their best
wow. im just blown away. pure magic 12 songs straight. jane's best work. whether this is recency bias or not i dont care this is album of the year as well. jane i am on my knees proposing PLEASE
His melodies and harmonies and instrumentation is only getting better bro STICK THIS SONG INSIDE ME QUADONKIE
One of their strongest songs yet, with some of Vessel's best vocals and a beautiful sax outro
There are several different projects lost in time and sprinkled across this album, songs that go so well together but are ripped apart by the horrid sequencing, and that is probably due to how long it took to make this. It sounds like he went through several different phases and didn't know which sound to even settle on, and threw it all together and made THIS, which is very fittingly named "Music." It is just "Music." There is no consistent mood here. There are filler ... read more
colorful sugary sweet little ep. got a bit too political in the second half (dont tell me how to say your name; this is a free country) but otherwise really cool stuff. every project from this goat has been different from one another and im so excited to see what u do next calup!!!!
This album conjures an atmosphere the likes of an overcast evening with an ocean of stars, meeting itself at a place betwixt melancholy and whimsy perfectly. The high energy sections which break the songs apart into this glitchy mess and the softer more intimate sections of heartfelt singing and simple melodies hold them together, forming a very colorful, tasteful experience.
ill be honest. i think the music was AMAZING. like the guitars, drums, all of it impressive. its just that i think to better get the concept across joelle should've recorded themself clarifying that this is meant to convey crimson. "this song is crimson, this song is crimson, this song is crimson" over and over through each song
delicious beats and choruses. not in the mood for writing a longer review rn but this is awesome for sure. love the jazz production, the concept is nuts of course, and lupe never misses lyrically.
This cover captures the sentimental and serene beauty that encapsulates this disc, which I think I very much prefer to the first. There is many tracks on here that communicate such strong emotion and memory. It feels very mournful, ceremonial -- a comforting coldness.
Favorite tracks (damn near all of em honestly i really love this whole thing): Altar Girl (WE NEED TO HEAR UR VOCALS MORE KING), The Wondrous (probably the best track from both discs imo!), and Hand of Creator (Part I & II). ... read more
Transmissive, harsh and cinematic -- its almost like a mental breakdown, swirling within a spiral of memories and sounds and emotions, sprawled across an entire project.
Good job NICO!!! This is really something crazy -- my first time hearing an album with this style, and it's honestly really fucking interesting. Very excited for Disc 2!!!
Favorites off this were Age of Trauma and Indulgence, but most of all, and I'd really put this above the rest for me: Heavy Is The Head With The ... read more
ITS RAINING HARD AS FUCK RIGHT NOW AND I GET TO LISTEN TO A KENDRICK ALBUM THIS FUCKING HARD??!??!?!? Today is a good day.
And this album is beautiful and aggressive and dominant and gentle. It mixes these two moods so well, the smoother tracks making way for the harder ones -- underneath the bangers something unraveling and being shared. Its great. I'll need to re listen to get final thoughts for sure though, 85 isn't a for sure rating just yet.
black midi, combining many concepts and atmospheres together though most notably chaos and existentialism, create this beautiful thing of an album -- a swirling spiral of chaotic instrumentals layered with deranged story telling. The madness of the instrumentation and subject matter is complimented so well by Geordie Greep's vocals, who possesses these deranged characters drowning in depravity and sin, matching their insanity with vocal performances just as insane. Cameron Picton should ... read more

Yes, those were the sounds I was making while listening to this project from Calup, the goat. Yes, it is that good. Yes, the production is ethereal and moody and atmospheric. Yes, the vocals compliment the instrumentals and create a very colorful blend. Yes, Calup is here to save the music industry.
