Several albums have been labeled "the Sgt. Peppers of hip hop," but I think this one that fully earns it. Not only did it reinvent the group behind it, but it also completely changed how producers would sample from then on. An improvement from all sides of their debut. The sampling pulls from a wide range of genres, leading to funk and soul elements being used as opposed to the hard rock and metal of License to Ill. After a short intro the album opens on Shake Your Rump, a originally ... read more
After revisiting this I realized that I was way too harsh on this album. It's a classic. The sampling, the bars, everything about this album is on point. This is some prime jazz rap
I thought I was done coming back to this artist after she consistently proves herself to be a one note artist who can't even get their one gimmick right, but she ended making the rounds on twitter a few days ago.
I wouldnt even know this was transphobic if she hadn't gone on a twitter rant that I was struggling to read because of the overwhelming all caps and emoticons. Every single song by her is the exact same noise that she autotunes beyond human recognition. I'm not even writing this ... read more
After the insane amount of incredible albums that came out in January and February I thought that March was gonna be a dry month for music, but Charles just had to prove me wrong with a jazz album in 2024. Honestly I wouldn't be supprised if I decide to give this a 100 after a few more listens. Usually with an album this long, especially an instrumental album, I would have found some songs dry or one half boring, but this album kept me completely captivated for the full ninety minutes. ... read more
this actually the first song from Porter Robinson i've ever heard. Definitely checking out one his other music after this. I don't have anything else to say, Brad said it best himself.
Kind of just a preview of what was to come. Really just a less fleshed out version of blonde
The only reason people enjoy this is cus it gets them rock solid. The thing that sticks out to me is her performance. She's just talking over a basic metal instrumental. Straight up text to speech delivery. Sometimes she throws in a moan to keep her audience willingly listening. Like I said, the instrumental is a basic metal track I could probably find on bensound.com. I don't think she deserves the direct hate on her though.
When I found out that this was used as the sample from Bye Storm by Injury Reserve I knew I had found my new favorite album, and I was almost right. This album is stunning and bright in every moment. The opener, Needles In the Camel's Eyes, is an especially sunny song. Of course I couldn't forget to talk about that brought me to thus album. The title track is nothing short of beutiful. The kazoos throughout the whole album are fun and bright, but on the last song they feel triumphant. Easily ... read more
Alright gamers, I'm doing a rereview. This album so overproduced oh my god. mostly boring, but some parts are just flat out annoying. It's still better than the assault on all your senses you get from listening to demon dice.
hahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahaahhaahahahahahaha h hahahahahahahahahha
I wanna wish a happy birthday to one of the best songs from to be kind.
I don't know why he thought this would be funny for over an hour. This thing is so bloated. Fried Noodles is the only song that I like. The rest are complete throwaways.
I just don't get it. I felt like I'm listening to the chainsmokers with a wider vocal range. The only song that really stuck out to me was no reptiles. It was easily the most enjoyable song for me. The rest just don't work as well though.
