The lyrical substance is there, its just a repetitive album. Wale's verses tend to be somewhat mono-tone and not of top tier quality. Production wise its a solid album however there are several severe mixing issues. The instrumentals commonly drown out Wale, even on choruses. This is album is for the type of rap fan that brands all artists from 2010-Present as "trash mumble rap".
It’s a bit better than average, but not anything amazing. Cyhi shows a huge amount of potential, but this album just falls short. Excellent features and production. Flows just got repetitive and it runs a bit long.
Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” is a cliche breakup album, but one of the few that actually has personality and is of artistic quality. Ariana displays a bit of versatility here, with her signature falsettos on “Needy” and then a brief rap hook on “7 Rings” just to name a few. This album is definitely one the better pop albums of the year.
Absolute godly instrumental by no other than Mike Dean. Travis provides his usual hook, nothing special from him. It’s a mediocre track saved by Dean. Released right after the breakup will secure it at the top of the charts for a few weeks even if it’s not deserving.
I applaud Logics attempt to write an album to coincide with his novel, but the execution completely missed the mark. While Logic has been on a downward trend since his debut album Under Pressure it is hard to see Logic produce an album worse than this.
