A painfully overlooked album. While many people's experience with Alessia Cara's music seemed to end after her debut album, "Know It All", this album was and still is a treat to listen to, albeit a bit bloated. Songs like Shapeshifter and Voice in my Head (a song that made me cry on the first listen), are songs I love to go back to, and I think Alessia's jazzy vocals work very well here. While I like the album, I think it would been more attractive to listeners if it was cut down to ... read more
This album is an eclectic, cohesive project that effortlessly weaves together multiple sounds and genres to comment on everyone's interal "velvet rope". I can tell that this project was created with extreme care and intention, and I believe that this is Janet Jackson's best work overall in terms of artistry. Songs like Together Again hit extremely hard even today, and the project as a whole feels timeless almost 30 years later.

This album is an atmospheric, dreamy, electronic R&B masterpiece, that perfectly flows through track-by-track like an *experience*, as opposed to just a collection of songs. No other album has made me feel so soothed, yet also ready to start dancing, all at the same time. Raven - Bruises - Sorbet, is one of my favorite tracks runs ever, and is just one example of how effectively Kelela's uses transitions to create a cohesive project without a single dull moment.

I believe that this was the project that truly solidified Ariana Grande as a force to be reckoned within the music industry, being her most artistic, experimental, and climactic album to date (even after the release of Eternal Sunshine.) With outstanding tracks such as breathin, everytime, God is a woman, the the bittersweet outro get well soon, Ariana weaves themes of love, loss, and mental health into a dreamy sonic masterpiece. Pharrell's contribution on the album as a producer is definitely ... read more
I always saw this album as a just more effective version of my anti-depressants, which is ironic considering how often she talks about death. Calling back to what one would hear in the 2000s, this project is instantly captivating, and her light, cheeky vocals, work excellently with the nostalgic beats. While, the viral collab (Boy's a liar ft. Ice Spice) feels tacked on after the grand conclusion that is Capable of love, I can still look past that as I've fallen in love with most of the tracks ... read more
While most would disagree, I believe this is by far The Weeknd's best, most cohesive album of his career. It's use of infectious, nostalgic synth-pop still feels modern and is used excellently to tell a story about the tunnel between life and death. A car ride being used as a metaphor for the journey to the after-life is conveyed excellently through the use of radio interludes, all of which string together rich songs about love and relationships.

Bjork utilizes micro-beats and a wintry atmosphere to create an outstanding body of work that feels both understated and grand. Being one of the most intimate and captivating albums I have ever listened to, the angelic vocals on tracks such as Undo and Aurora, and the haunting production of tracks such as An Echo a Stain, has made this a project I constantly come back to. Every track has its place, and I believe this is the most impressive presentation of Björk's talent and artistry in her ... read more
