These, Courting, Deep Tan, Home Counties and Lounge Society are the future of post punk
sigh. The Streets are one of my all time faves but this ain’t it. It’s not like every album is worse than the last either because I actually think Computers & Blues is the 3rd best after the first two. This however is easily the worst of the 6. The tracks with Idles, Jimothy Lacoste, Rob Harvey and Hak Baker somewhat salvage the album to an extent but not too much.
I used to fucking love this album in 2012/2013 when I was literally about 11. Not good at all in retrospect.
The first Metronomy album I listened to. Originally gave it a 75 as it was good but not amazing with only a couple stand out tracks and I much preferred Nights Out overall. In the time since then they've become one of my favourite bands and I've seen them live so thought it's a good idea to come back and do another up-to-date rating.
NEW SCORE: 85
It's like Bjork but nowhere near as good. Made me bored and wishing I was listening to Bjork the whole time
VANT was way better as a band rather than a solo project. That first album was a great, this is very average.
"It's that time, big mike and teddy are on grime"
Okay, yeah no I tried. I'm done. This, this is awful.
There aren't too many songs that make me cry. 2 tracks on this album managed to make me though. Head Rolls Off did a bit, then it all came out for Floating In The Forth. Being largely unfamiliar with the band's work but knowing the tragic story of Scott Hutchinson, it's a masterpiece, but very hard to take as an album. I don't think I'll be revisiting for a while, purely because of how sad it makes me. Don't get me wrong though, an incredible album.
