steely dan are the coolest guys about and aja is evidence of it. an unshakeable charisma exudes from this record, and the impeccably polished production by gary katz only furthers its confident nature. one of the slickest albums i've listened to and, while i definitely don't love it, i absolutely admire and respect it
an album overflowing with surreal creativity and wild colours, yet one that never feels clustered or overwhelming. a true monolith within the 70s psych-pop sphere, standing head and shoulders above many of its contemporaries.
its absurd how incredible the title track is. utterly mindblowing album from front to back
some of the most fun ive ever had listening to a hiphop album. i love TLET, but this clears

the level at which this album succeeds at controlling its chaotic songwriting and crazed energy is honestly unreal. the production is stellar for an early punk album, the entire thing is airtight and allows the album to flow effortlessly despite some of its juxtaposing ideas. i personally think "secrets", "trem two", and "dead pool" are three of the best post punk songs ever recorded.

i don't think i've ever had a more cathartic listening experience than i did with this album
i miss you, nana
