This album is basically just Double Fantasy B-Sides, so while some of the sound is a little watered down, it still delivers enjoyable music. I'm stepping out is quite charming and this album has some of my favourite Yoko Songs on a Lennon album, namely Sleepless Night and Don't Be Scared. Much like on Double Fantasy, John feels reformed here, which gives a lot of closure as a posthumous release. I think Yoko handled this album quite well and while John definitely has stronger solo efforts, it's ... read more
Its consistency is partially hindered by the Yoko tracks, but its still a very solid record nonetheless and has some of John's greatest solo efforts, including Beautiful Boy and Watching the Wheels.
Take the best of Elton John's instrumentation and Bernie Taupin's songwriting with immaculate creative consistency and you have Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. This album displays greatest hits level quality of music as it, track after track, blesses your ears with beautiful ballads and upbeat bops.
Elton John had a legendary album run from the early to mid 70s, and this is where it peaked.
The singer/songwriter vibes of this album just do it for me. It can get a bit offside with lyrics at times but sonically its a beauty. To me this is a win, especially compared to Twelve Carat Toothache
the deluxe tracks actually add a surprising amount of good content to this album. thumbs up don
i really wish i did like this more. i love a handful of keefs other work but i didn't find myself accessing this album sonically. i'm no stranger to odd or left field sounds but this just doesn't click with me. i see the appeal but its just not my cup of tea. the length doesn't help that either.
the new tracks for this album were super solid especially the title track
The refined quality of this is what truly makes it shine. From what seemingly is supposed to be a joke is a great deal of talent. Lord knows what they could be dropping if not the spongebob based music, not that I don't like it though.
Edit: 75 --> 85, it's almost insulting how much I slept on this.
Please don't wake me up is phenomenal. Most of this just sounds like the same stuff but hey that's not a bad thing because it still sounds good.
really wish this continued as good as it started, but its still solid
i've been a very big kid cudi fan for a while, as a matter of fact he's probably my favourite rapper of all time, but this is really starting to feel soulless. its listenable but it lacks everything that cudi's actually good at
while it does have the dated early 2010s sound, i think its definitely a strong point in the early part of future's career which has a few quite mediocre projects. plenty of bangers and is pretty cohesive despite being released as a mixtape.
not jam packed with substance but the replay value is through the roof
it kinda works in some spots but its some of the most low effort trap i've ever listened to and i'm not a fan. his most recent project, nocturnal, is LEAGUES ahead.
The ratings for this are...surprisingly low??? I thought this album was very solid and a wonderful comeback display the longevity of Paul's musical creativity. There are a couple disappointing low points but I think its great otherwise.
