first 3 are middling, title track is fabulous, last 3 are great -- so not the best dan album but not a skip either
prob my fav steely dan album. basic but easy choice. got a bunch of the most iconic dan hits and at the end of the day u cant rlly beat an album with black cow n deacon blues on it
a fantastic offering showcasing a different sound for the band--i see it as the opposite of their debut cuz it starts off with a bomb ass first half and a good but comparatively underwhelming second half (no hate). first 3 tunes r top steely cuts for gettin steely on a sunday.
starts strong with do it again + dirty work, then really picks up with only a fool would say that which kicks off the stellar (and superior) second half; one of the best sides of any steely dan album. their debut ranks highly among my favorites of theirs
