Finishing off the Bravery's discography with an album I didn't know existed. Venturing slightly into a 3rd different genre (Post-punk) for their 3rd effort, I wasn't blown away, this album just doesn't have the highs of their first 2 albums and I think this album and genre arguably works the least well for Sam Endicott's vocal performance. Ultimately this album is let down by the slower sings like She's so Bendable. Maybe one day we will hear from The Bravery again ... read more
This album flows so beautifully, a very mature elaboration on the sound that made LCD Soundsystem famous with their debut. New York I Love You is an intoxicating track that will pull you back it, and All My Friends is one of few tracks that makes you feel a different emotion every time you listen to it. Brilliant album that stands the test of time
Much better than Rock Music, still missing a little something to be truly great track
Beautiful album, always loved Belle and Sebastian and their ability to make such breath-taking music!
On their second album, The Bravery switch up the genre slightly, maybe a more fitting addition for the band. Bravery is a brilliant song and while the 1st half of the album, once again, is better than the 2nd half, it doesn't stop the bravery from finding some moments of excellence in there. Preferred this to their debut, gonna have to see how their final album goes now
Huge fan of LCD Soundsystem and I already loved a lot of these tracks! Thrills was a genuinely awful song tho, a bit disappointing, either way, was always gonna like this, very fun album and a precursor to some of the best music out there
I think I'm a bit harsher on this album because there is no development from any of their other stuff. I could put on any other Bleacher song and it would sound the same. Just a really boring album with not much to offer. You and forever is the only song on this album I thought was alright but not enough to save it. Some of the audio effects on a few of the tracks just don't work but I was just happy it was something slightly different. Overall uninspired and hopefully if Bleachers ... read more
Such a brilliant start but Give In and songs after just don't hit the ear right. I love An Honest Mistake and Not Breaks and I enjoyed Tyrant a lot but it just fell apart. It felt like it was constantly trying to do something that wasn't working, like the 'effortless look' the bravery were known for had fell into their songs. Vocal performance is similar to fellow NYC band The Rapture and a lot of the songs makes it seem they tried to capture what went well in The Raptures ... read more
Decent indie rock album. Didn't really know what to expect going into this but was pleasantly surprised. No idea why Everybody Is was on one of the albums but not the other lol. Unsatisfied is the high point of the album with Intermission and Shot Down being great songs too. Not re-inventing the wheel but good indie rock regardless
Fun album in places, I think I expected to enjoy this one a bit more considering I already knew (and loved) Losing my Religion and Shiny Happy People. Funnily enough the Low point of the album is the 3rd track. Will have to listen to more R.E.M though
I really like the 'Hard to Explain' style drums on Nervous Young Inhumans, I had heard Bodys and Sober To Death before but didn't expect to enjoy this album as much as I did. It will pull you in and won't let go if you let it!
Very good album and had a lot more fun listening than I thought I would lol
Generational album, every time I listen to it I love it more
Much better than their last record! In It Won/t be like this all the time, I wasn't massive fan of the vocals and how they worked with the sound but this time out I love how his voice sounds compared to the music. Hopefully this is more of a long see you later rather than a goodbye and we will hear from the Twilight Sad again!
Don't throw rocks is my favourite, very reminiscent of Teal by Wunderhorse! Solid EP all around. 2 EPs down, hoping for an album soon!
I wasn't a massive fan of the vocals on this album, but at first the instrumentals were interesting enough that I was engaged in the album. There is only so many times you can listen to the same song and same riff over and over. The titles of each song make me interested if listening to them in number order would make the album flow different, maybe better (Not that it didn't flow well). The mixing on this album is strange and I like the bold attempt at a debut of Forward, Russia! NME ... read more
Fun album with brilliant blending of synth pop with the dad rock Weezer is known for. Great place to stand for a debut, create a sound that's interesting. Some of the songs could do with a bit more work but overall clean record and adventurous use of backing vocals that I find super interesting!
I grew up on The Hoosiers, specifically Trick To Life, and was supposed to go to one of their record shop shows for this album (It was cancelled). I think one of my main problems with this album is that it isn't anything new, if you put on any Hoosiers song post 2011, it will sound the same as the songs on this album. I do think the Pop Rock genre they're going for can be really interesting and The Hoosiers have executed it interestingly in the past with Up To No Good, Choices and a ... read more
Amazing start to this album and I enjoyed it all the way through. A defining album and theres no wonder why
