Not only is it reminiscent of some of my favorite early 00's post-hardcore classics, the range on here is so impressive. You have your straightforward songs, punkier ones, slow burners, complete ragers, and even some nostalgic interludes with obtuse titles. Static Dress are able to successfully execute all of these styles. It's a nostalgic, yet fresh wild ride in the vein of Finch, Glassjaw, and Underoath and I'm here for it.

The irony of this album is it's infinitely more challenging for longtime listeners of the band because of how restrained it is philosophically. We're used to 5+ minute songs being the -norm-, not the exception. Instead, Periphery opted to really reign in the songwriting length, demanding they make songs leaner and meaner than normal. This is the best Black Veil Brides album I have heard from them. The heavier approach really works. However, the album is completely frontloaded. The second half of songs have too many "whoa-oh" choruses and there are far too many interludes across the album. I'm good with one to three, but four - if you include Invocation and Eschaton - is way too many. Good album that could have been something great!
