My hearing probably just became worse because of this album, but it was probably worth it… I think.
So uh, I’ve never heard of Jane Remover, let alone Leroy, so I had no idea what I was getting into. Good thing that opener is so striking that it immediately gives you an idea of what to expect. Status Update Music is a collage of different songs that test your ears. And I’m not saying that in a “The songs sound terrible!” or whatever kind of way. I literally still ... read more
I think it's time I get paraMORE out of Paramore so after way too long of an intermission, I'm finally coming back to them and trying out more of their work, now with Riot!
I hate to say it, but this is one of those albums to me where its got that ONE song that everyone bumps to while everything else kind of gets left behind because it's nowhere near as good. I'm obviously talking about Misery Business which is just iconic and MUST be a 10/10. Don't get me wrong, I ... read more
Remember kids, to floss is to gloss those teeth! Seriously, flossing is a very important thing that we should all remember to do so that our teeth stay strong and hardened so that nothing dirties them up. It's a repetitive process, but nothing good for you is supposed to be easy all the time.
Corny opening aside, Floss is a very great introduction to the group Injury Reserve. I immediately this was gonna be fun the moment I learned that they recorded this in a dentist office that ... read more
Frankie Knuckles, someone who not only contributed to the disco scene, but also went on to contribute heavily to the house scene is certainly a legendary figure in all of EDM. And he certainly deserves that fame. This album works as a pretty good introduction to his work and style.
The album is kind of a collage of different songs for different vibes. However, I will say that one thing that all of these songs have in common is the fact that the vocalists ALWAYS snap on them. Like no matter ... read more
I genuinely can't stop playing Power 4. What did they put in this song?!
I had no idea of this guy, and I never saw anything about him. But then of course that all changed from seeing a video of him on stream ranking Sonic games. In the middle of the vid I find out he's a musician, so naturally I had to find out what was going on. I listened to the latest single at the time which was "Turn It Up" and I loved it. It was on replay, and now I finally decided to just rip the ... read more
Hard Normal Daddy (Still trying to understand this name) is an album that feels like it's all over the place, and I mean that in a good way. It's a very simple and fun EDM listen that focuses on DRILLING your ears with DRILL n Bass, a genre that I don't think I'm familiar with. Safe to say though, it makes the drums in DnB hit that much harder in a much more heavy and sudden way that just really completes the beats. That's not all though, since Jazz also decides to step ... read more
If there were one visualization I could give this entire album, it'd be something like this:
Imagine already having plenty of light in your life, but you think it's not enough. So you decide to go and look for some. No one seems to understand why you'd wanna do that, so you do it by yourself, so you search and it's hard, but you finally find some light. So now you want to share it with everyone else; but no one is there anymore. The light flashes over you, and only you, ... read more
It's so odd how a lot of EDM genres like Breakcore just seem to barely have as much as ratings as other genres on this site. It's something I'm starting to realize. I mean look at the greatest Hip-Hop Albums according to users, and then compare that to DnB. It's a pretty big difference. I don't know if stuff like DnB is just that niche in the grand scheme of music(It probably is), but it definitely feels like it's harder to find a big EDM album unless it's ... read more
Who would've thought that Deftones is what would bring me out of the shadow on this site. It's funny, the only reason I even knew they were making a new album is because I heard one classmates bring it up out of nowhere. Have I really been that out of touch? Regardless, I'm here right now, and this album reminded me of why I love doing this sort of stuff.
So, I know Deftones hasn't exactly been gone. I still listen to them. They do a bunch of live shows. Their last album ... read more
Shoutout to @sanamdeep for lending me their work. I really appreciate it!
This is a little mixtape that's short n sweet, and I enjoyed it for that. I would like to say that I feel like the album has some clear positives and negatives. First of all, the dark ambient beats here are great, and I love it. Especially on songs like "Spinesplitter" or "Hollowbody" which just emanate a great atmosphere via their production. Oddly enough the tape shifts between instrumental ... read more
Thank you so much to @Alius9 for the request! I know it took a minute, cause of life and all that, but I'm glad to get to listen to your own work!
00011010101010001010101010010101. You just caught me try to learn the language of this album. I think it's in binary but maybe I'm just assuming that. Terrible joke aside, I was interested in this album from the get go. The cover is so creepy looking, and the title alone just lets me know this would be a ride. What I didn't know ... read more
Thank you very much to @TKS for sending me their work. I really appreciate it, and I'll try to give out my thoughts as honestly and well-thought for this as much as I can.
So, I definitely don't want you to take this as a sign of needing to give up. I'd never want anyone to think that, including yourself. However, I am going to say how I feel about the song, and as you can see from the rating, it didn't do much for me. The beat while well produced didn't exactly move ... read more
Dropping this on April Fools is the silliest thing he could've done with an album like this, and I'm all for it.
I had no idea of this. Like at all. I didn't even see anything in my recommended on my music apps that told me Skrillex dropped a whole album on April 1st that wasn't a joke. And the amount of the effort put into this makes the random gift feel even better. I've had Skrillex be one of the first artists to ever introduce me to the overwhelming world of EDM, ... read more
Shoutouts to @Brilxonic for gifting me with their own work. Thank you very much for the offer!
This is a very good foundation of a vibe that I feel coming from your type of music. The bass was perfect and the synths helped in giving that 'evening at a beach' vibe. I definitely feel that the guitar could be a bit better, and the song does start to get a tad bit repetitive for me so definitely try experimenting with transitions and production in other instruments if you can, but other ... read more
Never thought I'd get a chance to listen to an entire album that reminds me of Gran Turismo, but I just did, and I'm here for it.
Casiopea's a short but sweet and groovy trip. It's simple in what it does, but excels with it's soothing melodies. The songs here all have a good theme that fits the title of the song which I enjoyed. Tears of the Star is melancholic and beautiful in how much it incorporates. It has a distinct feeling to it, that wasn't exactly ... read more
What better to express sex than with synths and amen breaks, right? There's nothing truly more beautiful in the world. I saw how popular this album was on the sight and since it's in the EDM territory, I knew I had to check it out. And judging from the rating, you can see that I'm not disappointed.
Easily, my favorite thing about this entire project is the production. Everything is clean and clear to listen to. All of the beats were or became total bops that always kept up with ... read more
I've got so much to say, and I don't even know how to convey it.
The human psyche is something that intrigues me. I mean the fact that so many things(Putting it lightly) on such a huge scale of good-bad stem from it is astounding. Some of the greatest thoughts came from how we operate and think. This album depicts the complete opposite of that. There is nothing like discovering gravity, no appreciation for someone, no light in the darkness, and certainly nothing good comes out of it. ... read more
So Slowdive is a band that to be honest, I should have been listened to more of by now. The one song I listened to by them all the time that soothes me to no end called Spanish Air is beloved in my heart. So I thought "Why not." when deciding to listen to this. The only thing I regret is that it is 1 AM currently and my eyes are begging for mercy.
To put it simply, this is hypnotizing. It puts you in such a comatose-like state. From the beginning with Alison, it feels like we're ... read more
Thanks to @Brey for the recommendation!
There's no lyrics, but this albums just exudes the feeling of darkness, and I already like that. I knew from the cover and names alone that this was gonna be depressing and probably have a lot of a creepiness factor play into it, and I was definitely right. I think that this was done well in that regard and as a whole, but I do have a fair bit of problems with it.
For starters, and I hate to say it. It's kind of boring to me. And to be honest, ... read more
GONNN'S BACK and I of course thank them for letting me listen to their work again. I enjoyed Sky Rush, and I'm happy to say that I enjoy this as well. I think that looking back and comparing to this, Gonnn has definitely improved in a lot of things actually. From the production being better, and the songs being more unique with the chiptune addition which gives these songs a lot more of an identity.
I also think that this album is way more consistent, and the tracks neatly blend in ... read more
