Peak BTMG, of course it is because he was blessed with a J.A.B feat.
This has rapidly become one of my favorite albums OAT. I wasn’t a huge Rocky fan but shit this album is amazing, even the small songs that don’t get love (Back Home) are fuckin amazing. Please cook with the DBD Deluxe Pretty Mothafucka
Might be glazing, but I also think this is a great project from Cole. I like almost all the songs and don’t see why it gets shit. Maybe it’s because 7 Minute Drill was a dud, then he dropped out of the beef… but that doesn’t take away the other songs from me (they’re peak)
Favorite song: Trae The Truth In Ibiza (HM: Pi, had to mention it)
Just straight pure heat rapping from Cole. Only thing that holds it back points FOR ME is some of the early songs and feats. I’m not a big 21 fan, and not a fan of Amari either.
Favorite song: hunger . on . hillside
I can’t give it anything below a 7, but I will say it’s only because like 4 songs. This is the first Cole album I’d say has a run of mediocre songs, but like every Cole album he has atleast half the album fire. His storytelling on Window Pain is really good, and the album also has a good purpose trying to keep kids away from drugs.
Favorite song: Window Pain (Outro)
This album is beautiful. The writing is on point with the story Cole tells about his friend, and mainly, the title track 4 Your Eyez Only, in my opinion, is one of the best written and overall songs OAT (not just Hip-Hop). I will say Foldin’ Clothes is not it on the tracklist.
Favorite song: 4 Your Eyez Only
J. Cole’s magnum opus, not a single bad or mid song on here (Yes, I like Hello and Note To Self). Some of his best songs, best writing, best everything. It’s simply too good.
Favorite song: Love Yourz or January 28th
Really good sophomore album. Longer but keeps you engaged in almost every track. Lots of all timer Cole songs on here, and while I don’t feel like his rapping got any better per say, it is a step up from Sideline Story.
Favorite Song: Too hard to choose.
Most overhated Cole album. I don’t see the hate, it’s a good debut, lots of good songs (maybe 3 or 4 mid) but I will admit, the sequencing on the tracklist is ass in some places (Sideline story to Mr. Nice Watch). Overall I like it and I feel like I doesn’t get the love it deserves.
Favorite song: Sideline Story
Better than The Come Up, very good rapping, a lot hungrier than he sounded on TCU, and has a lot better mixing, mastering, production, he’ll just everything got better.
Favorite song: Can I Live
It’s good, early Cole so it’s obviously not gonna be as skilled as he is on his other albums (and mixtapes) and it doesn’t have great mixing and mastering throughout, but overall it’s not bad.
Favorite song: School Daze
It’s not bad, it’s a fun mixtape. Probably the worst Denzel project though. Could have been a lot better, but for a short mixtape it’s good.
It’s not terrible, but it really sounds the same almost every song. Vocals are similar, beats are super similar, features are alright I guess. Yeah it’s not great, got a few hit records and the rest is mid. Hopefully he’ll grow more later in his career.
Not what I expected, I’m not a huge fan of Jack but I thought a was a pretty decent short R&B album. Pretty repetitive though, and samey.
I like it, production is cool, not a big fan of The Plastic Guru, Delirium, and The Shadowy Light though.
It’s not bad, the one with Leon Thomas and 3 billion are both good but the rest fall a little short to me. Does also sound a little samey sometimes and I didn’t necessarily like the Brandy and Ronald Isley features either.
Not normally what I listen to, at all, but it’s actually pretty good. I like her vocals a lot but some of the songs do get a little samey. Overall good album.
Didn’t know what to expect with this, I’ve never heard DC’s music before, but I was pretty surprised with what it is. Not bad.
