Used to be obsessed with this band, just putting my present opinions on their work out there before they release their new album. Truly pumped.
Not even out of January and we already have the worst song of the year.
I like this approach more actually, the interludes are oddly unsettling yet they fit so well with the rest of the album. They are a bit long tho, wish I got a bit more singing out of this considering how much I liked her vocals much more on this project than her previous album, but it’s still a cool album and a really interesting listen.
Starting off the year with me familiarizing myself with Ethel’s album before I dive into her new EP.
Ethen's a very good singer, very talented with a clear vision that was executed how she intended. The only problem I have with this album is that it is just not being my thing, even if it's not my thing though, I still recognize what it is and why people enjoy it.
Like I see nothing wrong with it but it’s not something I would put on for me to listen to. Cool ideas and ... read more
The musical equivalent of slowly exiting a PCP trip as 5 musicians blast different instruments in your face while a hillbilly on amphetamines incoherently yells at you for an hour and eighteen minutes...but I can’t say I didn’t find myself entertained throughout though.
(Edit: 68->78) I hate that I kinda love this, like all the red scored songs in my ratings below still stand as bad songs in my mind but it’s for some reason addictive and genuinely really entertaining for ... read more
Ok, so this used to be one of my favorite albums of all time for some reason??? Like yeah, it slaps and I think it’s one of the most, not only underrated in Slough Feg’s discography but also just in general. The only downside is that it gets basic sometimes, even to the point of copying riffs from other songs. Like even when I was so unbelievably biased of this album and was so unbelievably obsessed with it, I couldn’t not think Starport Blues sounds so much like The Boys are ... read more
Came across this crazy shit last year, I love it, anyone who loves crazy jazz and metal music gotta hear it. So off the rocker and lots of weird fun, a true hidden gem
Edit: 77->82
I listened to this when I was not a fan of pop, yes it was not that long ago but I've listened to a fair amount of pop albums and my mind has been changed on many pop albums and the pop genre. Yeah, I gave this a 77 but I’ll be honest, I did not like it that much, 77 was more in the 60’s range, I only like the songs I grew up with at the time. I put a higher score because i was cautious of disrespecting a record I didn’t understand even tho i ... read more
RIP David Berman, you are one of my favorite lyricists ever. Your wonderful brain and voice touched the hearts of many, I hope you are at peace now. If anyone is considering clocking out early, please talk to someone, we're all in this together. You're not alone and even if I don't know you, I love you, many do.
Step down from their debut but I say it’s still pretty decent (with a shitty closer)
Not talking about the original songs, just the bonus tracks as you can tell by my score lol. I could not give MM FOOD a 60 lol I have it on vinyl and it’s one of my fav rap albums. The bonus tracks are just kinda underwhelming, and the remixes are kinda just meh but interviews and such are pretty interesting RIP DOOM
This is the first rap album I remember listening to, still pretty great and I still find myself bumping some of the songs in my playlists today.
I tried listening to this but I could not get through the first 3 songs without crying, so I decided to postpone my listening until I knew that I was mentally prepared for it so here we go.
Hearing Phil Elverum go through a breakup in previous albums and now hearing this album about the death of his wife, just makes me wanna give him a big hug. It hurts me in my heart and soul to hear Phil’s natural and true grief for his wife whom he so clearly loves, you really do feel his genuine and ... read more
I’m blown away, not only BEAUTIFUL but also insane how his vocals are identical to how they sounded on Disintegration. Fucking seraphic.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but respectfully a decent 1 is insane
