'everyone’s gonna be having a choke enough spring and then Oklou gets nominated for 10 grammys and wins 7 including best new artist and album of the year'
I was apprehensive going in because I wasn't really feeling any of the singles, but they all hit so hard in the context of the album. Oklou has created such a serene atmosphere that I can't get enough of rn. blade bird is prob my fav
I love twigs (i think my first review on here was when magdalene came out) but this one hasn't really scratched the itch that her previous work has for me. It feels like her most "expensive" album (if that makes sense) but it feels like her least inventive work yet (TO ME). I did really enjoy the last run of tracks at the end but the first half or so really did nothing for me. I'll edit this if my thoughts ever change it's still early doors
A strangely hypnotizing and beautiful avant-garde folk album that you'll probably either love or hate. Hanna Tuulikki's vocal performance is spectacular and the arrangements are all really well developed. Honestly surprised this wasn't already catalogued on the site
super cozy album! never knew what the next song would sound like (something i really respect and value). it definitely grew on me more and more as it went on, would recommend!
favorites (in order of appearance): game of zeroes, rosie, the rain, into a pretty room, fun and loving, helen's song
surprised this wasn't already listed on the site -- love javier santiago's work (check out 'Phoenix' if you haven't) and this is another solid release!
super fun ep! love how layered the production is, every instrument feels double or triple tracked and different instruments and textures are always weaving in and out. i can hear a lot of different musical influences here that im not sure ive heard anywhere else! the use of the saxophone plus the ambient plus the folk creates a really fun atmosphere and it really hits around this time of year tbh. fav is 'round and round'
This one is definitely my favorite of the new kicks. There's just something about her more ambient and spacey works that resonates with me more than what is explored on the other albums that were just released. I could see this becoming my favorite overall album from her (currently the self titled). Very Very Good.
It feels like I've been searching for an album that sounds exactly like this for a long time. Such a satisfying feeling to find and listen to this
'Comfortably eerie' is the best way I can think to describe the sound of "Warraw". It feels both warm and cold at the same time, which is something that can rarely be pulled off successfully. Highly recommend.
Genius collab. Never would've thought of to pair these artists together myself but it feels very natural
I've been a serpentwithfeet fan ever since I heard four ethers back in 2017 and ive regularly listened to soil since release day. With that being said i genuinely do not like DEACON. Much of what drew me to his music in the past was the dark and mysterious soundscapes that perfectly complimented his voice. However it seems like he pretty much has abandoned that aesthetic for a more upbeat and optimistic sounding set of tracks which I absolutely respect artistically, but I find very little ... read more
Super ethereal. Someone else said there's a delicacy to the songs on here and I don't think I could put it any better. Mad I let this slip by me when it dropped.
Loving this record! Took a while for it to click but I'm really enjoying it now. The artists on Sooper records are realllllly undervalued on this site imo. Also"Hope and pray that all the abusers get neutered/Tryin to find the meaning of life inside the computer" hard as fuck lol
