why do i have to be poor at the same point of time in the world where evanescence is going on tour with spiritbox and nova twins OTL this year's gonna pass by and ill feel the weight of that missed chance like... well like the Weight of the World.....
anyway yeah this is heavier than the past two albums! which is a more genericizing move, not more unique, but yk. still has that righteous feel though
okay i know this album spawned abracadabra and she IS the moment, but damn if the other songs arent pulling their weight. i also appreciate the instrumental versions for when me and my gang do insane karaoke complete with choreo
atp just bitcrush my entire brain mmmm so scrungy
the track listing is missing a song? according to spotiify but not bandcamp? so here? The UnHexing: 77
just sitting here on a random wednesday listening to some of the most influential music of my tween years. revisiting every cell in my body that soaked this up in 2013. and i just have to act normal abt it when i go back to work
happy 200 reviews :)
the shortest soad album :,( and also the one that seems to have the most fun - a deranged kind of fun, feeling dislocated and exasperated, on the brink. better to laugh than cry and all that
im just here to talk abt the cover and how it is important. interpretation ahead
this is an album exploring the feelings that come with being violated, not knowing how to cope with feeling like a part of you has died or been permanently altered, and your life cant move past that moment. the cover depicts Lamb as Wolf is clearly unwillingly made to swallow a part of her. Lamb gets to assume control over someone who could have posed a danger to her; she gets to be the violator. it's a ... read more
shes so comfortable making weird dissonant music with droning strung-up structures, and i say that as praise. i REALLY dislike the mixing tho, especially her vocals which always sound like they were recorded in a tin can and put at the back of the room

okay lots of new material here. it starts off like slam poetry, then plays with this rock flavor which is very punchy but trying to balance it with the synth funk makes the lp sound a little confused. fun ideas, sounds big, could have been more strongly focused

SO Christmas, SO theater kid, when i heard the first couple singles come out i wasnt sure if id be enjoying this album and i was kinda right, its a little more folksy and musical-inspired and to me that reads corny
city pop really does capture that summer day sound. completely pleasant earfeel that floats across the top like a horizon

in spite of the title, noticeably goes out of the genre comfort zone established by the past four albums. i do agree with one review that complained of tonal whiplash; jazz emu is getting a stronger grasp on sincerity but still wont let go of that signature comedy, and he layers opposing songs up against each other turning the lp into a sandwich you want to pick apart

he has never sounded sexier honestly. allows itself to be a tad more serious, and you get a sense that he's starting to really know what hes doing more than before. same tools but in a more experienced hand and you hear the increase in appeal and confidence
Very bright, polished, lovey love song songs. and it seems to have activated the lesbians. its chill light tone puts it outside my regular taste range
ty @Igor_Dmitriev for the rec ^^
springy yet heady, smooth and sparkly like fresh concrete. it is a treat to listen to with headphones, the tracks like to play around with space. ig thats why its called stereo !!!!!!!

mixed bag. Funkbot and My Brother are like,,, THE jazz emu songs, the rest vary widely from absolute earworms to absolutely forgettable. all my reviews are adding up to 74 why. also? lots of fadeouts in this one! bring back the fadeout

there are so many fluff songs in this that dont do much of anything, but thats okay, ill let myself fall into them all soft and cushy. at least thats what i thought in the first half before it started to get genuinely more annoying than i remember
