I guess the only way to describe this album is "what if Daft Punk turned Discovery into a more pop-focused direction and were Norwegian" It's energetic, vibrant, playful, pretty much anything ibeant from a pop tune. There's also some trip-hop elements on here that I fuck with too, Röyksopp Forever being a highlight. No wonder everyone's telling me to check them out. Oh yeah, Robyn's on here too, she's great as always.
A really good ambient techno project from the depths of RYM. Very Boards of Canada-ish (might be playing into the meme but who cares), in the way of how much ambient is on here. If i squint enough I can imagine this on Geogaddi. Very glitchy, very relaxing, kind of peaceful(?), I like it. My biggest gripe though is that after Marbre, it just kinds of blends together into one track with breaks. I like this album, I just can't give it higher than a 80. It's not the best thing I've ever heard in my life, but this is still a really solid techno album. I guess my main issue is that after Drone Logic, half the songs sound the damn same. It may be good for DJs and stuff, but it does get kinda stale when you're just listening to the album. But the rest of the album makes up for the rest of it, especially those last 3 songs, chefs kiss. Overall, as a collection of club bumpers, this would get the job done.
I guess this is the month where I listen to a bunch of shorter albums, huh. Anyways, I think I might've accidentally came across a short film about grasshoppers or some shit, cause this is a soundtrack to something that doesn't exist, and I like it. Knowing this man is a part of Yellow Magic Orchestra, it makes sense that his debut sounds like this, cause this is some excellent foreshadowing. Normally with songs this long, I'd say it would be overstaying it's welcome, but he ... read more
Before I say this, I love DJ Rashad. I know his style, I love his style, and i think he's incredible. So... what the fuck happened? Despite this being only 21 minutes, that felt like the longest hour of my life, and not in a good way. The only track that I actually liked was the title track, and I doubt I'm ever gonna revisit that again. It's like it's trying to be better, and in some cases it literally takes samples from better songs (ex. "Rashad" borrowing the ... read more
