Yeah, easily album of the year.
I feel like this is something every Haunted Mound fan needed. I'm not at all annoyed or disappointed by the direction HM is headed now, and I enjoy this new moundrich wave a decent bit. But I needed something like this, something different and fresh. All the songs sound amazing, with amazing production, cool writing, and memorable songs. There's so many good beats here, especially on ''DAMIEN'' and the title track. I'm really ... read more
This was a quite boring listen. There's not much to say, everything is just kinda forgettable. I just listened to this and I pretty much can't remember anything from any song. The production, singing, lyrics, nothing stands out. ''Lick Back'' is sort of memorable, but only because it completely goes against the tone of the rest of this EP. I know these songs are inspired by the recent break up Coi had with Trippie Redd, but nothing here sounds inspired. It's a ... read more
''Gotham needs him'' type album cover.
First things first, the production is amazing. The beats are so good, and they really make the album what it is for me. Doesn't mean that Yeat is bad though, he does his thing on here, and it works quite well. I can't say he's the most interesting artist ever, but the aesthetic he went for this time was really great. He manages to make some catchy hooks, and the lyrics, while basic, are captivating and memorable. But ... read more
Best hot girl rapper in the game strikes again.
It's a Megan Thee Stallion album, you know what that means? Confident rapping, hard bars, and boss bitch behavior, and I don't think anyone really does it as well as Megan does. She rips apart pretty much every beat she's on, and always gives it her all. That in itself isn't always enough though. The first three tracks of this album are hard bangers, but I was a bit afraid that the sound would bore me after a bit. Sure, Megan ... read more
Not the worst EP EDDISON has made, but nothing too great either. He is at his best when he is making chill songs and bangers with autotune and synth beats. The raspy delivery he uses on ''goteem'' and ''player1'' just doesn't sound good, and ruins both of the songs. The good songs ''famous'' and ''demonZzz'' are much better, though definitely not the best songs EDDISON has put out, and ''stop ... read more
Going from ''Say no to suicide'' to ''Kill Yourself'' is wild.
This album just sounds sloppily made. Trippie did not try with almost any of these songs, apparent from the writing and melodies. Songs like ''Snake Skin'', ''They Afraid Of You'', ''Immortal'' and ''RIOT'' have such lazy sounding hooks that I'm sure were made in ten seconds. The same goes with the writing. ... read more
For a few years now KILLY has dropped a lot of mid. I feel like ever since ''Light Path 8'' came out, he hasn't really lived up to his potential, and after ''K3'' I had pretty much lost all hope. But then he drops this. ''LIFE I CHOSE'' is everything I have ever loved about KILLY. The melodies and hooks are catchy, deliveries are passionate and powerfu, and the production sound grand and otherwordly. ... read more
Didn't mean to disappear for over a week, but I was spending time with my bf so it was worth it :).
On to the album now, it's not really my cup of tea. Most of the first half is just sounds very decent to me, bordering on being boring. I don't find many of these songs interesting, and it's only on the second half where things get a bit better. The slower songs with soulful production and smooth delivery from Danny Brown are way better. Songs like ''Down Wit ... read more
I feel like Bruhmanegod and Wendigo teaming up to make an album about war should've sounded way better. Like after hearing this my only thought was how both artists have so much better material in their catalog. Wendigo's beats are fine, but other than on "Feed Me" and "my obituary", nothing about the production really stands out. Bruhmanegod's performance is fairly good, but this is still him nowhere near his peak level. The yell rapping is just okay, while ... read more
Coi still one of the most overhated artists out there.
This EP might not be amazing, but it's decent enough to not deserve all this hate. All the beats are pretty nice and vibey, and Coi mostly succeeds in her performance as well. "We Time", "Wanna Come Thru" and "Poster Girl" are all very cute songs where her singing sounds really good. "Lemon Cars" is also a very decent song, though maybe a bit boring and just not my thing. The only real failures ... read more
31 tracks and at least 25 of them sound the same :/. Since this is a compilation and not an album I can't really judge it the same way I normally would. Even then, I have kind of grown out of this old Darkie sound. I'll listen to some of these songs every now an then, but for the most part I would prefer to listen to something else. All these songs sound way too similar to each other, and it makes me realize that Darkie's old music really wasn't that amazing. They're ... read more
My ears hurt :(.
Distortion, darkness, and more distortion. That's what you get with this EP, or at least with the first two songs. ''cult classic'' is awful, you spend the first half of the song waiting for it to start, and the second half getting your ears blown out by mindless yelling and distortion. ''the ugly young god'' is slightly better, since you can actually hear the rapping from the distortion. It makes for a fairly decent yell rapping ... read more
I find most of these songs boring. ''GET ME RIGHT!'' is really smooth and catchy and ''QUEEN OF TYPE BEATS!'' has some nice rapping from Brokie, but other than that everything here is just kind of meh. The beats are cute, but that's about it. There's not even much I can say about this EP, Brokie can clearly make better music than this, and I believe she will (kinda already has since I am reviewing this over a year later :P). But yeah, I ... read more
Trippie really used to be one of my favorite artists, but he has way too many misses in his discography for me to say that now, and this one is just another bad apple. On every song it either sounds like Trippie doesn't care at all, or he has no direction. Everthing sounds so rushed, and I end up wondering if Trippie even released this for any other purpose than that his label deal said so. There's a few songs like ''Psychotic Lunatic'' or ... read more
This and ''BASED NEGATIVE SQUAD'' will probably be the last projects I check out from Dillinger for a while. I am just not a big fan of what he is doing right now, and I don't wanna keep shitting on his music with every new album he drops. But I will say, this one is pretty decent. There's some really funny and out-of-line bars, the beats sound nice enough, and the energy is definitely fun. But all the songs sound very similar, and some bars get used many times on ... read more
It's another good Biv album bois and girlies :).
I really needed this after ''CEMENT''. Biv steps away from the trap metal sound and goes back into this dark, grand, suspenseful sound that I love. The melodies on calmer songs like ''Melting Keys'' and ''Nothing Less'' are really nice, while bangers like ''Know My Worst'' and ''UNDERWATER'' are very hype and fill me with energy. Some small ... read more
Woudn't be surprised if I gave this a 100 one day.
Beautiful, simply beautiful. That's the best way to describe this thing. It's full of beautiful, powerful songs about appreciating life while acknowledging how hard it can sometimes be, and how short it is at the end of the day. From the writing to the vocals to the beats, everything sounds so full, well thought out and heartwarming. The intro and outro tracks are perfect, as is pretty much everything in between them. I am ... read more
Been glueed to this sound for a while now :D.
I just love how pure and pristine this tape sounds. It feels like an untouched entity, existing freely in it's environment. Weird way to describe it, but that's how I feel. The production is so clean and angelic, and Bladee's voice fits it very well. He doesn't have the most energetic delivery ever, but I think it works quite well here considering the topics he raps about, and how calm the beats can be. I wouldn't say that ... read more
Mud Digger hate is crazy, I love hillbilly Sematary. REAL USA RAP SHIT, I'MA BUST YOUR FACE IN FO DAT!!!!
No but for real, I am actually really impressed with this album. The Sematary influence is obvious, but Digger has managed to make his music different enough that he doesn't sound like a cheap copycat, nor a copycat at all. The raw redneck energy on this project is unparalleled by anything else, and goddamn do these songs hit like a truck. Digger produced all the tracks himself, ... read more
Trying to get back into writing reviews again, at least one per day hopefully :).
First thing I'll say about this tape is that the beats are great. Gonerville has production credits on every song, and doesn't fail to deliver some hard-hitting, cool sounding beats. My favorites are on ''Mall Freestyle'' and ''RR'', but the rest are almost as good as those. As for Turnabout, I think he also did quite well. I wouldn't say this is as ... read more
