Has the potential to go even higher even though it’s so short. Just a package of some dope production and really pretty vocals from dev
i've listened to this album a million times since i was 12. i will always love this project. hitchcock is a strong contender for best song ever
too much marsh, not enough mellow. i'm all for music that pushes the limit and destroys your senses, that's awesome. what i don't like is when it feels like a song is sacrificing listenability for "i bet you didn't see that coming!". i think this album shows at times of clarity in the madness what could've been which makes me gradually get more and more irritated as songs turn into what feels like an unnecessarily messy and destroyed version of an actual great ... read more
Check out sleep streamers for the full opinion and reaction!!! To say it briefly, the context of this rollout and the false promises made make this very difficult to enjoy. In terms of issues with the actual music, I hate when an artist makes a 90 second song and adds a tacky bridge which is just the beat with a filter or a 20 second silent outro just to make it longer and this “album” is full of that. The last two songs are a little boring and considering that’s a third of ... read more
having only listened to pixel bath, i was really surprised during this album. its really really good. great vocals and hooks, loads of really catchy moments and overall a great atmosphere the jean takes in loads of different directions that just keep working. one of my favourite albums of the year
Honestly, I kinda liked the first single/opener on this ep when it came out. Solid production and singing and aside from that weird spoken word verse I thought it was a decent song and made sense that jaden would reach into that kind of bag. I did not expect the rest of this thing would give me a Jon bellion adjacent, white girl ukulele type vibe that then ends with a really trash classic jaden smith “banger”. The production is just whatever after the first song and the different ... read more
Same as the last one but with a better banger to dogshit ratio. Glaive is surprisingly good at making an atmosphere for his projects and although i wouldn't necessarily call this cohesive, there is a consistent sound. theres not a lot of variation but considering this is 20 minuets and 11 songs i wasn't expecting a very developed "album". As a collection of songs with a nice atmosphere throughout, this is pretty sick.
This is a car mixtape that play in the background and enjoy and at that is succeeds but if kinda come to expect more from Denzel at this point. On top of that the songs here aren’t as good or catchy as stuff from Zuu or unlocked which are similarly vibe based albums rather than a big concept project. It’s good and there are some good features and beats but it’s probably the weakest project from Denzel since his really early work
Bad. Glass animals only selling point for me was the kinda wacky production and catchy choruses every now and then. This has the most boring instrumentals, classic terrible lyrics, annoying ass vocals and is all around the most watered down and annoying glass animals album yet with not one chorus or hook that made me wanna return to a single song here
Some really good songs and some dull boring moments. I wanted to give this a 50 because of how bloated this is and the fact that half the tracklist was just dragging along but the highs are pretty damn high. I semi-disappointing send off for the childish gambino era
Needs to grow on me. It’s already gone up a bit since my first few listens but particularly the second half is where the album kinda looses me (not including the last song) Denzel feature was a huge let down but Vince sounded amazing. All in all this is probably the most tame peggy record and even when it gets more intense or more experimental, it really doesn’t match the level of something like LP.
update: i still think this is less experimental but damn this is probably peggys ... read more
As a whole this is definitely the best body of work that tuv has delivered but the same problems from previous albums persist here. The vocals are bad; the writing is some of the worst I’ve ever heard, his delivery is always awkward and crowded and makes him sound like he has no idea what tempo or rhythm is. The beats are alright if not pretty repetitive and outside of that everything is the same. When tuv either admits to himself that he can’t write or sing and starts producing ... read more
The same song back to back. Tub again shows that he is the wordy part of his own songs. With decent instrumentals and passable production quality; give these beats to anyone else and you have a decent little ep. But tuv with his horrible lyrics, awkward delivery and straight up not good vocals, turns something that had potential into just another poorly made album from another random guy who wants to be Quadeca.
I don’t wanna come across as salty or just a hater but albums and artists like these I feel are actually damaging to music. This is one of the most potent examples of somebody who downloaded a beat, bought a blue yeti and googled a BandLab preset and now has a yachty feature, millions of monthly listeners and a video on lyrical lemonade. There is not a single thing here that literally anyone else couldn’t replicate in an hour. This takes the spotlight away from real talented ... read more
Bit cringe. Eminem again shows (as hes been doing again and again in his recent career) that he’s the best when it comes to these triple layer, dictionary jerk off lyrics which if anything, prove how disconnected he is from the audiences real issue with him. It’s clear that Eminem feels being the best means having the wordiest and most complicated flows and similes but fails to understand that only he feels that way. Even people like JID or J Cole who are arguably in a similar genre ... read more
this sounds like a continuation of the sound palette from the last album but in a much more fun and less serious execution which works in its favour. i really like clairo on these kinds of instrumentals and i was a bit worried to see jack antonoff off the production but this definitely ddnt fall short to the standard set on the last album. instrumentally these songs are very similar but some cuts switch it up a little and the album never really feels like its just the same song one after ... read more
I had to listen to this a lot before deciding a score and it might go up from here but I think I have a decent grasp of my thoughts on this project. This album is pulling some of the best out of both these guys. We get some really beautiful and expansive instrumentals from James Blake as well as his usual angelic vocals, yachty also doesn’t fail to deliver with some really pretty vocals that work weirdly well with James. I thought this album would be exclusively ambient modular synth ... read more
