I mean yeah they sound good. I had to wait three years for two songs that were leaked years ago. This was completely unnecessary and if we don’t get an actual album soon then I just can’t keep supporting Aries like he seriously has to be one of the worst when it comes to just going silent for months or years on end
There should be a law against 7 minute jaden smith songs. This album sounds like someone had all the money in the world for a production budget and features. Surprisingly Karen actually does an alright job sometimes and has escaped the dogsbit level from his previous album but that doesn’t make him good. He can sort of imitate other rappers styles when it’s needed for different kinds of songs and deliver an alright song but I still have issues. First of all his vocals are so ... read more
I absolutely should not like this as much as I do. This is not a great version of this kind of sound and I don’t even really like hyper pop/rage music but I keep listening to this back to front and I can’t help it. These drops are dope, the synths are catchy as hell and some of the features really really deliver
Super unique and hard. Sometimes I’m a bit bored but at others this album feels like it’s own little haunted world and it’s sick
Two or three songs here are really cool but the rest sort of feel like filler. It feels like almost every hyper pop artist just gets a type beat and a preset and proceeds to freestyle for an hour and call it an album, aldn is different in that he clearly cares and pays attention to every part of his songs. The beats evolve and change throughout these songs and his production is always top notch. There are some kinda generic songs here but when it’s a little more unique this album is great
This is dope. Straight bangers that I get totally lost in with some fun features here and there. The second half gets a bit boring tho
Cavetown is at his best when experimenting and showing off his production chops. My favourite cavetown project Man’s Best Friend has some similarities with this ep when it comes to larger and more unique soundscapes as well as experimental vocal effects and other little synths and sounds sprinkled through out. I seriously love this and had no idea he had something like this in him but it makes me super excited for a potential album in this style
Actually really cool. This is the experimentation that was on scarlet but produced better and with more actual finished songs. This is only go up as I keep listening
Really not want I wanted from Lizzy mcalpine and wish this was some more of what was on five seconds flat but what we got is still very well done and shows great instrumentation and vocal performances from lizzy
Ooooo this is cringe. Girl in red really got more cringe but in the exact opposite way. She went from sad girl lesbian core which was kinda cringe but pretty catchy. And is now making what I can only describe as a camp rock tribute album
This is fun. Sounds kinda like a Peggy/redveil thing and is able to keep up without sounding like a knockoff or a shoddy rendition. Nothing too crazy here but it’s well produced with good lyrics which is honestly way better than I thought it would be from an artists with 50k monthly. I’d check this out if you have 20 spare minutes you won’t be disappointed
This is supposed to be this amazing example of an album you have to listen to front to back and this fantastic puzzle you need to solve but there’s nothing here that makes me want to figure it out. There is some great production here and loads of pockets of great instrumentation but all these moving parts never once come together to form anything that sounds whole. I feel like I could skip half this album or play these songs in a totally random order and it would deliver the exact same ... read more
This is a very calm record. There’s obviously top notch vocals from James Blake and some very low tempo soft synth beats but the second half of this album kind of just blends together for me. That’s not to say it’s bad but it becomes a bit one note and songs sort of just flow through without really doing to much or evolving. They’re still good but i feel like once I’ve heard one of them I’ve heard all of them. There’s normally a point where the ... read more
Feels like someone really likes MMATBS and Melodic Blue and gave it their best shot. At times it kinda works and at others it’s just boring and songs just kinda come and go without establishing themselves. I will say the artist does some actual interesting and kind of different things with her voice but it doesn’t save the record. Beats are different enough for me to finish the album but not so much that I’ll be returning
At times this album really works and I’m fully immersed in the world of these songs, but other times it feels dragged out and really loses me. These songs sound like they’re all trying to establish their own little world and gradually flow through with these large pretty instrumentals and sparse vocals and sometimes this really works. However when it doesn’t, it makes the rest of the album suffer by breaking the immersion and boring me. By no means is this album bad but when ... read more
This thing is kinda boring. Rex orange county has a really pleasant voice and catches my attention with a sweet rasp and laid back feel, but it only carries him so far as these instrumentals really feel a bit too samey and mellow. On top of the pretty unremarkable instrumentals is Rex, not really doing much in terms of catchy or very interesting lyrics or vocal performances. That being said however there are a few songs here that I think really work and one in particular which i think is Rex at ... read more
This album does what I think most music in this lane should do which is not overstay it’s welcome which makes this flow really well as an album. These songs come in explosive write out the gate and don’t stay for 4, 5 or 6 minutes. Their fun short and sweet and all the songs that do stay around for longer have more experimentation or evolution through the song that warrants the extra runtime. This was really fun and much more varied than I expected
