I’m a little conflicted. On the one hand these instrumentals are top notch and the vocals at times are really captivating and almost give me a Radiohead kind of vibe in places. But in all, these songs feel very unstructured. It’s kind of like there were three different undeveloped ideas that were mashed together and connected with these droning interludes of instrumental that just sort of switch up into something else half way through the song. The lyrics here aren’t very good ... read more
I keep trying to sit down and listen to this front to back to give this a fare review but I have not been able to listen to 19 songs of this after at least 5 attempts so I’m gonna stop trying. This suffers from the same thing as vertigo which is this slow droning feeling and songs that don’t define them self or give you anything memorable or unique to hold onto. Eden has the potential to make such interesting and unique songs and has done in different projects before and after this ... read more
So fucking boring. Not actually bad but really blends into loads of other albums like it. One song here gets pretty weird and is actually catchy and fun but other than very very few moments like that, I was bored
The second songs is actually good. The country song is hilarious. Mgk doesn’t have a single good line on the project. Trippie delivers his most forgettable and annoying performance in a while
Damn this shit is so good. Every song sounds like he’s just talking. That’s so cliché to say but something about Chicago rappers just makes them so honest and sound so direct. The two story telling songs on this album are so captivating that I hardly notice the 7 plus minutes passing by and prom/king is also really enjoyable to just listen to. There are so many songs that go so hard or cruise so smoothly that I wanna relisten as soon as they’re finished. The only ... read more
So groovy and smooth. Love matts voice on this. Super consistent album with top notch production. No real complaints
I’ve listened through this at least five times and still feel like there’s hardly any songs. It’s like the feeling after listening to an album for the first time and not remembering any actual finished like three minutes of straight song but I’m this many listens in and it still feels like a bunch of disjointed studio sessions. This score will likely go higher but as of right now I seriously can only recall like maybe one or two tracks
Actually alright. There’s just a mediocre kind of vibe throughout this album but there definitely moments like choruses or drops that really hit. Some pretty good pop songs and as always incredible singing from Ariana
Edit: 50-80
Everything I’m about to say is wrong
I get the feeling I need to sit with this longer but as of right now I can’t pretend I enjoy this. It’s boring, drones along for the whole tracklist with these lazy melodies and doesn’t reach any kind of emotional pay off for me. Huge step down from the previous record and greatly improved on with ICYMI. A dud in the discography
Edit: this is so good. After sitting with these songs for longer and really listening to ... read more
This feels like Jacob collier’s closest attempt at making more digestible and actually listenable songs. His voice really can be so impressive and fun to listen to it when he holds back on the over the top “music genius” shit as demonstrated on some of these cuts especially on the opener. This has multiple songs that I really find enjoyable and have a display of clear singing and production chops. I actually don’t think he suffers from his usual unnecessary quirkiness ... read more
Some of the best songs with the most hitting lyric’s mixed with some boring and borderline cringe songs. If this was like 9 of the best songs it would be 90+
I really want to rate this higher but I just cant. This has some of glaives best melodies and beats and by far his best writing to date. The problem is none of these songs go anywhere. These are all half baked great ideas that sound more like snippets/interludes than songs. It's really dissapointing since this really could've been glaives best work and reached 90+ territory but he just doesn't make any of these ideas into fully realised songs
Super groovy, great production and some catchy hooks. Great vocals and beats throughout with a couple really standout tracks. Inparticular, the singles are super fun and vibey pop songs
Quadeca nowt has my personal favourite three album run of all time. This is some of quadecas best, most catchy, most memorable work to date. The transitional period between his last and next album leaves us with these huge soundscapes with fast snappy rap verses and finds quadeca in his most confident and varied deliveries we've seen so far. There is so much fun on this record and obviously so much incredible production. I see this being one of if not the best album we're gonna get this year.
It's alright. Nothing really sounds bad honestly it just feels like random artists thrown together for no reason. Very little thought went into what guests were on what song and that kinda ruins it sometimes. I honestly like most of these beats and the background vocals throughout. Couple standout tracks and an established mood throughout the album, just not enough thought was put into the cohesion from feature to feature.
