Surprisingly underrated. This is the precise moment where Autechre shook off any comparisons with their Warp label mates; their discography and artistry took a left turn and they never looked back. Chiastic Slide, then, is a collection of strikingly cryptic, darkly beautiful glitchy songs that feel liberated from the rigid 'IDM' structures that their first three records adhered to . If you're a fan of electronic music, this LP (along with pretty much all of autechre's discography) is unmissable.

underrated techno genius . the opening etape suite, from prologue to chrono, is one of the high-marks of 21st century music , sleek and accomplished as hell . vitamin has campy appeal but unfortunately breaks the momentum gained . however , it's soon picked up from aéro dynamik onwards climbing upto one of kraftwerk's best tracks, la forme and subsequent regeneration – certainly needed after an arduous bicycle race ! capping off the near-masterful record is a solid reworking of ... read more
