You can tell Fugazi gathered as much of the punk scene as they could in terms of influence, and sought out to do as much as they could to push the envelope. The lyrics are more nuanced, esoteric, sometimes even just a bit off. The instrumentation is much more complex than a typical punk album, with some sounds appearing to suit a more progressive or experimental album. But the punk energy is still there, those harsh vocals tying it all together. It truly is post-punk in the most literal sense ... read more
Affectionately referred to as 'gleep glorp' music by my friends and I, this is a fun and short little electronic EP with captivating production, a fun bit of bounce to it, and a distinctly 2000s vibe that absorbs you into the aesthetic without fail. Track 2 is a personal standout, it treads the line between dance and ambient quite well.

Combining the jangle of The Smiths with a lo-fi, DIY production sound, Mac DeMarco provides an instantly recognizable sound that at the time was ear-catching and totally unique. Even now, in spite of the artists who were heavily inspired by this sound, 2 still is fresh and a wonderful listen. It's slick, yet rough around the edges, and feels like basking in a warm summer glow. A defining album of 2010s indie, 2 is an essential indie album that's easy to recommend for anyone.
