C418 - Minecraft - Volume Alpha

The 500th project I've listened to....couldn't have made it anything else.

It's been almost two and a half years since I've made this account, and two years since I fully delved into expanding my music taste. While I've only more recently started making more reviews, this website has been so integral to my listening journey. I've discovered so many amazing artists and albums that I just would not have any knowledge of if I wasn't on here. 500 mixtapes, EPs, ... read more

Malcolm Todd - Do That Again

Unfortunately, it feels like Malcolm gets less interesting with each project he releases. Outside of some really nice moments in the singles "Breathe" and "I Saw Your Face," the rest of the album just fades into pleasant coffee shop music. Not tasteless enough to be found in a T.J. Maxx, but you probably won't think of this after finishing your espresso. He's clearly talented - "Bleed" is an all-timer song for me, and "Sweet Boy" is a stellar ... read more

Easily some of Vince's best work since "Big Fish Theory." The lyricism on this goes straight for the neck, with him tackling topics like systemic racism and propaganda through the media, which considering the state we're in currently, is clearly what we need more acknowledgement of. Not only is his pen game on point, the production perfectly suits his raps, with Cry Baby going for a punk-rock sound that fits what Vince raps about like a glove. Even without Vince's ... read more

Kylie Minogue - Body Language

Listening to more and more of her discography and it's getting harder to deny the hold Kylie Minogue should have on pop music.

"Body Language" is another knock out of the park for me, with production that is so weird and futuristic, and performances from Kylie that are super slick and enjoyable. Songs like "Promises," "Secret (Take You Home)", and "Obsession" are classic electropop excellence, but then you have "Chocolate." Easily a ... read more

Lovely listen, this album is the equivalent of being dragged to the house-party of some random by your friend who thought you needed to "unwind and do something fun for once!" The production is so slick and fun, with some great hooks to boot. However, I do feel like there was a sort of messiness missing from this album to make it feel fully complete. Still, it is a great time!

Favorite track: if you wanna party, come over to my house

Decided to check this out to see how Kim's music progressed to get to Detour and....well...........a lot of improvement was made!

It is so easy to tell how much label interference was forced on this album, to the point that Kim landed on the title "Feed The Beast" as an attempt to be tongue-in-cheek. Unfortunately though, it completely misses the mark with this being a very uninspired, boring, and honestly tacky listen. With how flaccid and lethargic the production is across ... read more
