Though most would disagree, I would say this album one-upped Dookie with better songwriting, a more focused approach and a more angry, straightforward punk sound. I would go as far as to say it is my absolute favourite Green Day record because it nails the tone its trying to set. Yes, it's not as complex and varied as Nimrod, but that is not in any way a negative. When you say Green Day, I think of this album.

The melancholy this album exudes is impossible to adequately summarize. This album feels like an old friend, but at the same time I cannot grasp the fact that it has been half a decade already. And so much has changed. But this monolith still stands.

A very enthralling post rock effort with fitting shades of metal. The guys in the band are also very cool! Enjoyable listen, great live act as well.
