I still like this album decently enough, I can't hate on some solid piano performances. but it's a bit underwhelming. my critique doesn't come from me wanting something rap-related, it's from me not feeling very much. I don't think this was as impressive or thought-provoking as I hoped it to be.

artistically, I think this album is good, but the vocals are not good. this album has some great production and has solid songwriting. it's just not that pleasant to listen to at times. one track mostly felt like a mess, which is Forever Yung. there are a few great tracks, notably Changes, I'm Your Dirt, Terminator Symphony, and more.

The Forever Story is my favorite rap album from this decade, and it goes to show that JID is truly one of the best current rappers. as I was still discovering the extent of the beauty of hip-hop, this project lowkey changed how I viewed music. every single song is amazing, and literally every performance on this album is phenomenal. every feature, verse, and beat is so crucial to what makes this album so perfect. all Raydar, Sistanem, and Kody Blu 31 are a few of my favorite songs of all time, ... read more
this album is good enough to shock you and add some of it to a playlist, but it lacks cohesion and there is a lot of room for improvement. this album has Slick Talk, Off Deez, 151 Rum, Off Da Zoinkys, and Workin Out. in other words, it is banger after banger in the first half. Off Da Zoinkys is one of my favorite JID songs, I love that piano beat so much. though after that, it falls off a bit, though retaining most of the heat. Just Da Other Day is the only skippable song on here.
85/100
JID dropped so it's time to bust out some reviews. I love General, Somebody, All Bad. full of great songs and JID had a chock-full of potential here. it's not perfect, but it is certainly a hell of a debut.
80/100
The Never Story and DiCaprio 2 was when he displayed great potential. The Forever Story was when he fulfilled that potential.
God Does Like Ugly is him flourishing in it.
JID has been one of my favorite rappers since basically when I got into hip-hop, and TFS has been one of my favorite albums. I was definitely not expecting it to be the same quality of what is his magnum opus, but it's very reasonably close.
this is the most experimental he's ever been. it's a seriously great ... read more
some really weird flow and production choices... but I suppose it's alright. they're throwaways so, can't get mad at it. Animals is pretty fire in terms of the rapping, but using Em using AI to use the voice from his prime ain't it. Lisa and Behold are both good. Lil Yachty was pretty boring on Knew Better but the song was still solid.
75/100
Shit was culturally inappropriate.
It's safe to say that their prime never ended. Clipse's revival album Let God Sort Em Out is a highly clean record that is continuously heat, with fantastic production by Pharrell, and even more fantastic performances from both Clipse and the features. Both Pusha's and Malice's abilities to spit meaningful and slick bars is excellent, and what they do cannot be replicated by the extreme majority of rappers. Even early in Clipse's ... read more
there might be no rappers that excel more than Pusha and Malice on Neptunes production. they are literally hip-hop geniuses. straight filth and straight bars. it's a very high quality gangsta rap project, plus, it's very consistent.
I love Wamp Wamp
85/100
it is insane how good this is and how this doesn't garner as much attention it deserves. literally bars upon bars upon bars. The Neptune's production is so elite, and Pusha T and Malice's chemistry is heaven-sent. despite how funky the beats got, it was still so clean and Clipse was always delivered on it.
I really liked Grindin', Cot' Damn, and When the Last Time. and the last track is not very good. I'm not letting it impact how much I like this album nor my ... read more
Jay-Z's 4:44, (the 444th project listened to...), is masterful and a showcase of a deep, vulnerable side. even with just its musical aspects, this album is wonderful. and besides that, he talks a ton about family and takes a lot of accountability for various issues. 4:44 and Smile are just too good with absolutely perfect samples. I understand where he gets his flowers from now.

what a lie, this project isn't even close to being dry. it's a splendid mix of grime and shine with its samples and production. although I think that only a few tracks will stick to me, I had a great time with this project and is for sure a great addition to his catalogue.
also I love Let The Smokers Shine The Coupes and Dreamin Of The Past

yeugh!
I love this project.... Push is actually evil for making this 21 minutes. luxurious and pure gangster bars littered with awesome ad-libs over excellent Kanye sampling and production? say less.
IYKYK, The Games We Play, and What Would Meek Do are peak Pusha T tracks (that I know of at least), plus every other track is reallyyy good, with the exception of Hard Piano. I don't think the piano with the trap beat works very well and Rick's verse was underwhelming.
90/100
it's a very solid album without many faults, and more focused and consistent than My Name.
edit: Some of the production choices grew off me, and I forgot what most of this album sounded like so it's pretty reasonable to bring it down a tad
75/100
not bad overall, but it felt unusually boring. there's some great highs with tracks Numbers On the Boards and Nosetalgia, but there's way too many eh features and features a lot of weak production. I did not like the beat on Hold On. in fact, quite a few of the beats are very underwhelming. I did not like the features on Sweet Serenade and 40 Acres, but most other features are just fine. but you know, Pusha T really pulls through here with some really great rapping and lyricism, and ... read more
probably album of the year
I've listened to basically nothing but Quadeca this past week
with Vanisher, Horizon Scraper, Quad pulls up once again with one of the best concept albums of the decade. ranging from genres like ambience, hip-hop, art pop, folktronica, and other sorts of experimentation, he does it all with utter grand. the production work and instrumentation is simply amazing, and his vocals are just so pleasing.
but this album is especially pleasant due to its concept. even ... read more
songs this good being considered scraps is showing of Quadeca's brilliance, like this album is too oddly perfect. he excels in the catchiness of the hooks and amazing production work. the mixing sometimes kills what could've been a top tier track, for example DUSTCUTTER. and truthfully, the vocals suck but it's artsy and touching so who give a gaf ✌️. I love A LA CARTE and TEXAS BLUE.

IDMTHY is the most perfect non-posthumous posthumous album. the project's concept is so brilliant, and it is conveyed in such a brilliant way. who else is getting Danny Brown to rap on your album in the perspective of carbon monoxide? anyways this album is ghostly, tasteful, emotionally immense, and is a must-hear. tell me a joke and fantasyworld are generational, plus (obviously) house settling with Danny. and even besides those, every track is honestly amazing. I liked this album more than I was expecting to. there are a lot of iffy and corny moments, but music that is unapologetically itself is amazing. he grew off the potential shown from his early era so well. the production is so good, and his vocals/rapping performances are quality as well. Sisyphus and Candles on Fire! are really great tracks. it's just that it's a little bloated, or some songs don't have a presence in the album.

a charming and sweet project. it's actually hard to not enjoy this.
