I had always heard of this one from other people as really good so I decided to try it out and yea it's pretty great. I honestly don't know how to explain the music itself, it's familiar yet very different at the same time. Vocals are passionately sung and the guitar work while simple, works well. Sometimes simple = good. Fav song is prolly In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, least fav is Untitled. Would Recommend :)
Very chill, jazz-like stuff. Piano playing is smooth, and the singing is on point. My highlights are The First Taste and Criminal. It might be something i'd rate higher the more I listen to it but as for now it's a good, but nothing crazy, record.
A nice chill album, but nothing beyond that. All the songs are decent but the problem is that they're so short only like, 2 or 3 ever go anywhere with the ideas they present. So Mean is the one that does so the best imo. Solid Stuff, but it's not the end of the world if you skip this one.
I'd have to listen to it a bit more to get a truly solid opinion but like, it's fine. Vocals are great as per usual, but the chorus is pretty repetitive, and the production quality feels like it's gotten worse somehow, the bongo drums coming in don't feel natural, and the beginning guitar just kinda sounds weird. But I wouldn't say it's bad, it's okay I guess.
Solid collection of all their songs. If you're on a time crunch just stop after J’ai Passé toute la Nuit Deboute. Everything after is just whatever.
While trying to evolve their sound it seems like they lost some of the magic they had before because everything here just feels generic. Almost boring if not for the fact they decided to mess around with synths, which I don't think worked out for the most part, aside from Fille. Disappointing, but I would not call it bad, it's just... okay... I guess.
Pretty similar to their first album, but the musical composition is a bit better, and there's a little less bloat. Also a little less Violin in the mix unfortunately. Fav song is Le Jardinier Du Couvent, least favorite is Reel Du 375ieme.
As an Acadian I am 100 percent biased but man I love this. All the songs are at least baseline good, the singing is (french) great, the instrumentation is great, the violin gets my shoutout in terms of that. Lyrically it's good as well just focusing on the culture of where they come from. Favorite Song is Le Monde Qu'on Connaît, least fav is Confession. Great Stuff.
A very sad and sorrowful tale of a man who lost his wife to cancer. It dwells a lot on the pain and suffering the man has gone through and the minimalistic instrumentation helps tons. The only gripe I have (and why I wouldn't put it in the 90's) is that certain lines are delivered rather awkwardly. Real Death has this issue permeate the entire song and it's probably the only song I'd say i'm not a fan of in this record. Aside from that though, great stuff.
A Dark Vibey and kinda bluesy album that has vibes through the roof, I can easily imagine some early 60's detective films using these as a soundtrack... I can't help but feel like any of the songs here (Aside from Roads and Glory Box) stand out though.-
A Tear For Eddie is a great vibe, and it's nice that this album isn't as annoyingly bloated as their previous three albums... but you could probably purge every song after Joppa Road and no one would care, so still has some bloat. But this is a step in the right direction. Solid stuff!
A beautiful album. Instrumentally it's peak, the vocals are amazing, and the vibes are immaculate. There are a few times where the swearing feels forced and beware, this album is horny; but otherwise it's peak i'm afraid.
First half is okay live album renditions and the second half is legit animal noises what are we doing.
There are two or three songs that could be salvaged and made into a decent song, and there's one okay song. That one okay song is the best in the album because the vocalist shut their mouth. Genuinely can't stand the vocals, annoying and all the filters don't help at all. The drum beats themselves are fine but those then get ruined by MORE DISTORTION AND GLITCH FILTERS AHAHAHA. Do not listen, save yourself a good half hour of time and do anything else.
A matter of genre, I don't like le genre. Also doesn't have the storytelling of The Downward Spiral so that puts it even lower for me.
Bad. EXTREMELY BLOATED, like half of the songs here could be purged with no regret and even then the songs that wouldn't be purged are just mid. I'm sorry I don't wanna hear a guy scream into the mike about how he got stung by a bee I'm not. Puffy Cloud was a decent end track I suppose.
This one feels like a big old roller coaster cuz you'll have an okay song, and then a really bad one. Very mixed bag.
Not the biggest fan of their first three works. Astronomy Domine was neat but everything else was either forgettable or didn't fit at all, like Bike and The Gnome. Feels like two different ideas clashing against each other.
Very generic stoner rock. Nothing stands out, and I don't remember anything other than a kinda funny line "Me Happy Robot, Me Live On Hill Of Beans".
