Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 18:
It’s Woodbine’s sister’s Birthday!
Today, listen to an album that also celebrates its birthday in February!
This is a pretty good pick. Not only does the album celebrate its birthday on February, but so does J Dilla, and they’re both on the same day. I’ve also had my eye on this album for a really long time, so what better way to get to it. And yeah, I should’ve checked this out earlier. The tracks here rarely go ... read more

I FINALLY relistened to IGOR. My first listening experience with it admittedly wasn’t the best, and I have yet to give it another try since then. I’m glad I did now, because my god this album is AMAZING. Everyone knows that of course, but oh my god did I underrate this album. I also admittedly adopted the exact same opinion as Brad Taste In Music back when I first heard it (god, I completely forgot he existed), so going into it with an unbiased opinion was something I ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 17:
It’s Presidents Day over here in the States! Buckle up and listen to a Political Hip-Hop project for today’s challenge!
I live in the states and even I barely knew today was a holiday, but hey, I FINALLY get to check out Run The Jewels. This is a rap duo I’ve had my eye on for a while, and even though I’m checking out their most recent album first, it’s still enjoyable, and I’d guess you don’t need to ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 16:
Time for a switch-up! Today, listen to an album by an artist that you think is unfairly disgraced within the music sphere!
Alright. So Avenged Sevenfold is a band that a lot of you might know that I love. Their music is is obviously incredible, but I also wouldn’t be on this site if it weren’t for them. I discovered the site from a video on their massively overhated album “Life Is But a Dream…”, so it’s safe to ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 15:
Hello weekend! Spend your weekend chilling with a cute, laidback Folk album to ease you into the weekend!
I NEED to hear more Phil Elverum. Microphones or Mount Eerie, I just need to hear more, because for an artist so widely acclaimed across this site, I really haven’t properly introduced myself to him aside from listening to Night Palace when it came out. And well, I’m SURELY going to now, because this album was amazing. Much better ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 14:
It’s VALENTINES DAY! Pick an album that famously centers around topics of Love - whether it’s Star-Crossed lovers or Heartbreak, let love fill your day!
Well it’s about time I finally got to this. As with literally anyone, Grace has been on my radar for quite some time. It is among the highest rated albums on the site, and it is incredibly accessible, so anyone who wanted to could check it out and enjoy doing so. So to finally get ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 13:
It’s the day before Valentines Day! Get into the Valentines spirit by listening to an album with a Red, Pink, or White album cover
This surprised me. This album sounds absolutely NOTHING like “…Like Clockwork”. I’m not sure what I was expecting considering they were made 11 years apart, but this album has a much heavier early 2000s vibe to it. Probably because it was made in the early 2000s. And while that’s not ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 12:
For today’s challenge, ask a fellow AOTY user who you appreciate for an album recommendation and listen to that album! Make sure to @ them below so we know who that special someone is!

This was SUPER interesting. Just the main 3 genres, Art Rock, Neo-Soul, and Hypnagogic Pop are practically SCREAMING for a listen. Because first off they’re all amazing genres, but that’s also an insane combination. But ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 11:
Calm yourself down after yesterday’s project and listen to a famous Ambient project to get through the second Tuesday!
Oh hey, today’s actually Tuesday! Also, this is a pretty strange pick for this prompt. It’s listed as an ambient album, which I thought was very interesting. And surprisingly enough, I would definitely consider this an ambient album. Even more so with the second half, and even MORE so with the absolutely ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 10:
At this point in time, the albums that have been on my list have been too easy to listen to...
For the tenth day, pick a Metal album to shake things up a bit and really get those ears a'ringing!
Well I was not expecting this description to take effect as much as it did. I don’t know what I was expecting for a band called Deafheaven, but this is loud as hell. The lyrics are also barely even understandable because of how much the vocalist ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 9:
It's officially been a week after the 67th Grammy Awards and I'm hoping the shock of all of their bad picks has slightly worn off by now and the mobs have stopped rioting. For today, listen to a former Grammy winning album and allow yourself to come to terms with all of the albums that should have (but didn't) win an award this year.
Nope, the bad picks haven’t gotten any worse. This wasn’t a great pick for 2018 either, ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 8:
You made it a week into February! Congratulate yourself by listening to an uplifting and heavenly album that you've had your eyes on for a while now!
What a perfect album for today. It’s for sure uplifting, and I’ve DEFINITELY had my eyes on it for a while. SITKOL is one of my favorite albums ever, and with this being his second highest rated release, it was only a matter of time before I got to it. And yeah, it’s fantastic. I ... read more
R.I.P Ryan Karazija
What an a great album. From front to back, this really did blow me away. I’ve always been kind of partial to this style of music, mostly finding it boring due to it being slow, and not really adding much over time. But this is way different. It’s not slow, it has variety, it builds upon itself, and the vocals are beautiful. I don’t mean this lightly either. Especially the last part. I don’t know how I had never even heard of low roar before hearing ... read more
SQUID GAMES HAH GET IT BECAUSE THE BAND NAME IS SQUID HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAA *gets shot*
Anyways this was a lot better than I thought it would be. The vocals were a bit hit or miss at first, but they grew on me as it went on. I also LOVED the instrumentals here. They all sounded incredible, especially things like the guitar and bass. The vocals and instrumentals also just mixed together insanely well, with nothing ever really sounding out of place. I also really liked the violin parts of this album, ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 7:
It's National Bubblegum Day! Grab your closest pack of Bubblegum and pick a sweet Bubblegum Bass/Dance/Pop album to listen to today!
This isn’t a very original pick. I’ve very much been meaning to check out SOPHIE’s non dogshit posthumous work though, so I thought I’d give it a shot. And this is pretty decent! The more pop centered songs didn’t do a whole lot for me, but I absolutely loved the ones with the loud, ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 6:
It's the first Thursday of February, so you know what that means: Optimism day!
Pick an album that you know will get you in a good mood for the day!
Uhhh so I might’ve accidentally listened to this at night. Nevermind that though, because this is pretty great! The vocals are smooth, and the instrumentals fit with it perfectly. I admittedly didn’t pay too much attention to the lyrics, but that’s just because I was vibing too ... read more
Bro went from top 3 verse in music history to whatever the fuck Treasure & Gold is 😭😭😭
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 5:
It's the Fifth day of February (time flies y'all)! Today, listen to an album made by a famous band consisting of only 5 members!
I’m pretty sure the band had 5 members at this time? That’s what the Wikipedia article says, so ima roll with it. Anyways this is fantastic! It’s specifically 3 amazing tracks with a few (thankfully short) filler tracks. Those tracks are “South Side of the Sky”, “Heart of the ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 4:
It's National Hemp Day - commemorate the day by listening to an album that was (in)famously written under the influence!
I’ll admit, I wasn’t 100% sure this was written under the influence when I selected it. But after hearing it? It almost definitely was. But it’s Danny Brown, so with his type of music, it works really well. This is actually a lot better than I thought it would be. For some reason I was suspecting it might ... read more
Woodbine’s February Challenge! Day 3:
No offense to Tuesdays, but they’re typically the worst day of the week. To center yourself for February, pick an album that you know will get you in the mood for the month!
Today is Monday. But luckily, I dislike Mondays even more than Tuesdays, so I’ll let it slide for this one. I figured this would be a good album to get me in the mood, seeing as it’s one of the highest rated disco albums of all time. And while it’s ... read more
