usedcvnt - ultraviolet

first off, go buy the album and support a small artist:

now, let's get into it

Album cover go hard
okay opener
143 ways to lose urself was different then a lot of other stuff that usedcvnt has put out, very great stuff, a surprise to be sure but a welcome one
limited in love was pretty great as well, very surprising, not as good as 143 tho
you're my friend now sounded like they sampled a toilet but still managed to be a pretty okay ... read more

usedcvnt - yours forever

This is extremely different from usedcvnt's past releases, but I'm not complaining. Immediately you can tell that this collab was the right choice, the singing paired with the... everything else going on in the background, really hooks you and keeps you interested. Again, like I've said before w/ usedcvnt, this isn't ear bleeding breakcore, this is like heavenly transcending breakcore. Genuinely a great song and a great listen.

usedcvnt - wonderfulcore
86

This is a pretty good EP, a short enough listen that I can just knock it out of the way and say that I didn't waste my time on it. The opener was kind of meh but it hooked me and it's usedcvnt's first EP so I'll give 'em a pass.

The self titled track was actually really good. I won't spoil but I've never seen someone use those sound effects in breakcore, it's really relaxing as opposed to the more joke-y style and more loud and obnoxious style of most ... read more

usedcvnt - they called me Violet

This is truly great breakcore, this is what it's all about and what it's supposed to be. Occasionally when listening to breakcore you start hearing some shit that makes you want to take off your headphones and to go get an ear massage, but this shit is what it's about
This is what breakcore should be, something entrancing that pulls you in and keeps you there, while tickling your brain.
Very clear that usedcvnt is not finished, can't wait to hear more.

usedcvnt - i want to eat ur heart couse i love u

Was honestly a step down from usedcvnt's last release but you can tell they're still experimenting and trying new things. Again, another breakcore song that isn't making my ears actively bleed, and that tickles me brain, good enough for me 👍🏽

usedcvnt - sorry mom, i'm making breakcore xd

Pretty good breakcore that doesn't actually make your ears bleed, was a good listen, did some things differently than other breakcore artists I've listened to. The song doesn't really have structure, like a beginning, middle, end, or whatever, but like my friend likes to say, "It tickles the brain", and that's good enough for me.

Deftones - Diamond Eyes
89

Diamond Eyes is quite literally one of the best album openers I've ever heard, also one of the best songs I've ever heard. Not their best release, definitely not anywhere as good as Around The Fur or White Pony, but still a really good album that I'd recommend anyone. If you want to get someone into Deftones, let them listen to this album first. Very great album, however not perfect. A lot of this album is just, "yeah that's a good song, it's a good deftones ... read more

Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030

Rolling Stone is off their rocker once again. 3030 is quite possibly one of the best album openers I've ever heard. I'm glad I listened to this album because it makes me appreciate Del way more. I need to listen and find more albums like this one because *this* is how you make music.

Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city
95

At first I didn't like some of the songs on the album, so I had to give it a relisten, and holy shit, this is a pretty top tier album. Very great release from kendrick, I'm not sure where I place it on my ranking of Kendrick's releases, but this is pretty damn high on it. I still need to review DAMN., TPAB, and Section 80. in full even though I've listened to all of them. The main issue I have with this album is that, in my opinion, it doesn't flow as well as others ... read more

Pierce The Veil - Collide with the Sky

This is just an all around great album that's a lot of fun to listen to and vibe with. Emo music has a bad rap for no real reason, if you just sit and vibe you can appreciate the music and what they're doing. Highly recommend, great album especially for the time.

Rage Against the Machine - Evil Empire
97

Top tier album, one of the best I've heard. Zack pulls 0 punches on this album. On the self-titled, there was some nuance, some implications here and there, maybe you could infer as to what he really meant on a lot of the tracks, and it felt like a perfect introductory, something to get the ball rolling.

This, this is what happens after.
This is like a more mature step from the self titled. It pics your trike up, takes off your training wheels, and throws you in the middle of the highway, ... read more

Deftones - Adrenaline
93

Easily my favorite Deftones album.
Around the Fur is a good listen, great album.
White Pony is top tier, great production, great vocals, great features, you know the deal.

This?
This is like pure untouched gold.
It would be a perfect album if they didn't include Fist on it. It kind of drags everything down. Fireal is boring but it's an okay song, while on Fist it just sounds like they forgot to hit record, or their mic was cutting out every 30 seconds.

Now, onto the good ... read more

Deftones - White Pony

Uh, yeah, where to start. Pretty amazing album, I think Adrenaline is their best and I think that everyone should go listen to that one as well, but White Pony is a pretty close second. Some of my favorite Deftones songs are on this album, like Passenger, Street Carp, and Knife Prty. All of these are 10/10 tracks that I have no comments on. For anyone who hasn't listened to the album I won't spoil too much, but there's a feature on Passenger that singlehandedly makes the LP that ... read more

All around great album, top tier. Territorial Pissings really makes their punk roots shine through but it's not that great of a casual listen, can't imagine it being on any playlist, and I don't think it belongs on the album. Every other song, however, really shines through. From the opening track, "Smells Like Teen Spirit", to "Something In The Way", the whole album gives you that 90's Alternative feeling. The tracks range from more poppy and mainstream ... read more

Deftones - Around the Fur

You know when I first started to hear about Deftones from TikTok I just assumed it was going to be another one of those fad bands that I shouldn't give the time of day to, until a friend of mine got me to listen to them. I started with Adrenaline and got hooked on Deftones from then on forth.

Around The Fur would be 10/10 if MX wasn't so long, but other than that all tracks on the album get a 10 from me. Mascara's bass line, My Own Summer's guitar riff, Chino's screams ... read more

There's not a single bad track on the album. Not all of the songs are 10/10 but there are some that go over the limit of the number 10 to make up for it. Bombtrack is the perfect opening song to the album, it gives you a feeling of what they're like, their message, the feel and genre of their songs, everything. Freedom is probably the best closing track to an album I've ever heard. It leaves you wanting to hear more and listen to more of their material, whilst highlighting social ... read more
