i'll get my bias established and out of the way now by mentioning i listened to this through that reaction with the shebang clip that got big on twitter (listened to what did i miss off to the side since he skipped it) so that might be part of why i'm about to be very mean spirited in this review but nevertheless:

being tool's first release (not counting their demo tape), opiate is an album that's pretty standard fare, but still an overall solid showing with some heavy hitting riffs and a lot of energy behind maynard's vocals. the lyrics, which are rather aggressive in nature, compliment this sound very well, and songs such as hush and jerk-off are downright hateful at times, though i do find the former's "i'm mad that i can't be an asshole" attitude to be somewhat ... read more
not entirely sure if this counts as a single, but nevertheless this is my favorite song from time n place. thematically beautiful, musically a combination of my favorite genre and my favorite artist. pure bliss.
disk 1:
ok computer, one of the most critically acclaimed albums of all time, makes its comeback and they somehow managed to make it better. the remasters improve the quality by a lot and i like the edits they made to improve the way the tracks transition into each other. banger album like it's always been.
