Tori Amos - In Times of Dragons

Way too long for its own good. Tori includes some nice songs on this record, and there’s not much I actively dislike, but this is far from her best work in my opinion.

Linda Perhacs - Parallelograms

This is what Ladies of the Canyon would sound like if Björk was involved with making it.

Melissa Etheridge - Rise
60

It still isn't anything particularly remarkable, but compared to what Melissa has been releasing over the past twenty years, "Rise" is a welcome improvement.

Melissa Etheridge - Memphis Rock and Soul
40

Have you ever wanted to hear Melissa Etheridge cover classic blues and soul hits for nearly an hour straight? Yeah… me neither.

Slayyyter - WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA
90

Gaggiest Bitch in Slaymerica!

Addison Rae - Addison
90

On first listen... this has to be the greatest debut pop album of all time

Emilíana Torrini - Love in the Time of Science
90

Ever listened to Björk but wished she was more subdued and sounded more like Portishead? If so, then this is your album!

Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess
70

There's a lot going on in this record. 9 out of the 14 songs were released as singles prior to the release of the album across a 3+ year period and it kind of shows. There are a lot of great tracks here but the balance between the more upbeat flamboyant songs and slower more sentimental tracks feels a bit clunky especially whenever the songwriting isn't super consistent in terms of quality. Regardless of these nitpicks, there are still many songs that I really enjoyed, and I found Chappell's ... read more

Madonna - Ray of Light

The Greatest Pop Album Of All Time

Madonna’s 1998 album ”Ray Of Light” is in my opinion one of the most important records of its respective decade. Not only is it regarded as a landmark album in the electropop genre, but it is also lyrically and conceptually expansive beyond what was typical of mainstream pop music at the time. Unlike many contemporary pop albums, Ray Of Light showcases a variety of complex topics and themes to get through to its audience. The record focuses ... read more

Future - WE DON'T TRUST YOU
20

I fail to understand what people find appealing about these awful lyrics combined with an incredibly unenthused vocal delivery on top of generic 2016-sounding trap beats.

Kacey Musgraves - Deeper Well
70

Sometimes you don’t need to reinvent the wheel to make a really great record. The tracks on deeper well flow together nicely , and allow for an incredibly pleasant, listening experience.

What compels a person to make this?

Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loveliest Time
70

Despite essentially being a part two of The Loneliest Time, this album manages to be even better. I'd even go as far as to say that Kollage is a top 3 Carly Rae song. However, my main gripe with the record is that the opening and closing tracks are by far the worst songs on the album. This is made all the more evident when you compare the record to its sister album where the closing and opening tracks are the top songs. Besides that one complaint though, I would say that this is a really ... read more

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik

Pros: Funky, Fun, and Fresh
Cons: Anthony Kiedis unironically saying the words "Creamy Beaver".

mgk - mainstream sellout
10

I didn’t expect much from this album, but still it managed to be worse than anticipated.

Arctic Monkeys - The Car
40

Wow, That was incredibly boring.

Joji - SMITHEREENS
40

This album is a gradual decline. Glimpse Of Us is a great song and feels actually somewhat emotional. Feeling Like The End is pretty decent for what it is. Die for you is a nice track. Before The Day Is Over is pretty average. But the last five songs sound like really bad underdeveloped demos. The closing track in particular really left a bad taste in my mouth. While this album may have some hits, it is filled with way too many misses for me to find this project as a whole to be enjoyable.

Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loneliest Time
70

The Loneliest Time is a nice collection of fun songs that are all really standard and inoffensive. Carly doesn't take any big risks but instead decides to stick to her time-tested formula for creating catchy pop tunes. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, just don't go into this album expecting any song to be on the level of "Run Away With Me".

Drake & 21 Savage - Her Loss
20

Maybe instead of releasing 2 trash records in one year, Drake could have put the combined effort into one cohesive project to make a halfway decent album.

Janet Jackson - The Velvet Rope
100

This is my first time hearing an entire album by Janet Jackson and I'm already in love. This is the type of music you can twerk to then cry to, which is something that can't be found on most other albums. Janet absolutely slayed the haus down boots with this one.
