Natural Snow Buildings - The Winter Ray

This album is truly INSANE and I would say that it is most likely the most beautiful album I have heard in my life so far. It sounds like something you would listen to or make during a zombie apocalypse or the end of the world or something. The length is no problem at all because the album is so immersive and the quality stays on the same level throughout the whole album. It's like every song tells its own story and even the broadcasts really fit the theme and add to the experience. ... read more

ZAYN - KONNAKOL
57

ZAYN has my favorite vocals among all of the old One Direction members and I'd probably consider him my favorite member but I feel like his potential goes to waste with this generic production. Die For Me was actually a good song but it's the only song on here I would ever revisit.

Portishead - Dummy
85

"Sour Times" is literally one of the best songs I've ever heard. I don't know what I was thinking when I gave this 67/100 a year ago lol. This album is such a vibe and the vocals are incredibly beautiful. I didn't grow up listening to this but somehow it still feels nostalgic and I really like that.

Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
58

The vocals bring this down SO much for me. By the end of the album my ears were extremely tired.

Everything else is good though. The beats, the production and the features are all great.

Snail Mail - Ricochet
58

I wouldn’t say the songs are weak. They’re just so uninteresting and this album feels like background music or something that would make you change the radio station in hopes of finding something better. It’s pretty average. Her vocals are okay and so is the production. But that’s pretty much all it is. Just okay.

Feist - Pleasure
79

If "warm summer night" was an album, it would be this. I want to listen to this while sitting at a campfire one day. Her voice is so pleasant to listen to and the ambience here is amazing and sometimes haunting. My favorite song is "I Wish I Didn't Miss You", which is a song I've listened to for at least 2 years at this point. (and of course I listen to it the most during spring and summer).

hemlocke springs - the apple tree under the sea
80

This is such a fun and creative album and I honestly believe it's slightly underrated. "the beginning of the end" and "be the girl!" are possibly the 2 BEST pop songs I've heard in like a year and it's crazy that they're on the SAME ALBUM. Her voice is so unique and makes the whole thing a LOT better. I'm already excited for her next release!

Old Saw - Dissection Maps
69

Comparing albums with each other is not always a good idea, I know. But the reason I liked their other album "Country Tropics" so much is that it felt more unique in a way. The atmosphere of this album is beautiful too but it felt less nostalgic and dreamy. They really did create something beautiful here though. I will probably revisit this as I did actually enjoy it most of the time.

Boris - Boris at Last -Feedbacker-
81

The second track is INCREDIBLE and I love this album’s atmosphere. A mostly satisfying listen, I just really wish track 4 was different because the guitar hurt my ears a bit lol

Charli xcx - Wuthering Heights
78

I definitely prefer the first half but I really liked "Altars" too. Charli can do no wrong. I really love the use of violins in the songs! Just makes the production so much more interesting imo.

Dry Cleaning - Secret Love
27

This was incredibly exhausting to get through. It's been a long time since I've heard something this uninspiring, boring and bad. Spoken word can be fine if done right but the vocals here are straight up infuriating. The vocalist sounds like they haven't slept for days and the lyrics feel very random and pretentious.

Agnes Obel - Philharmonics
85

No other album sounds like this. There are many folk albums out there but this feels so cozy in a unique way. Riverside is one of the best songs ever. I would say I'm biased because I've known her for like a decade but then again I wouldn't return to her music if I didn't like it.

Ambedo - I Am Now Where I Was
65

You can tell a lot of effort was put into this and it's honestly a solid debut. I wasn't a fan of the drums on track two but other than that it was good. If this comes out on spotify I will probably listen to it more.

Old Saw - Country Tropics
84

Immersive and super pretty! Was not expecting this. After finishing it, I went back and listened to it again because it was that good. Ambient mixed with americana of all genres is really interesting. The length was perfect and I loved the droney vibes too.

Joji - Nectar
72

This would be so much better without all the songs that feel like random fillers. "Ew" is genuinely so beautiful and an amazing opener but unfortunately majority of the songs are just decent. Like not mediocre but not particularly interesting either. For me, the highs were Ew, Modus, Gimme Love and Sanctuary. I feel like my rating of 72 is a little generous but the good songs keep me from giving it 60 ish.

The Softies - Holiday in Rhode Island
73

I'm currently sick and listened to this late at night just staring into my screen and letting the music swallow me. In a way it's very simple but dreamy. There's not much happening other than the guitar and their vocals but the sound of it is so comforting. I'd like to listen to this while sitting in front of a fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa lol

Jane Remover - ♡
73

My first positive experience listen to a Jane Remover project! I was honestly pleasantly surprised. No hate to Jane whatsoever, but "Frailty" and "Revengeseekerz" were just painful to get through. I was starting to wonder if I'd ever actually get into their music but I'm glad I didn't give up.
The vocals just sound so much better on this EP and the production never really gets too overwhelming for me.

Cozy St. Jean - serenades for the false-hearted
69

(First listen was in 2023). I love the sound of this EP and I think the length is perfect as it would probably get boring if it was a full album. I definitely have a weak spot for depressing music like this and it reminds me of Ethel Cain and Nicole Dollanganger (and I love them so much). The reason why I'm not rating it higher is that this EP kinda feels like one long song and I wish there was more variation instrumentally.

The Avalanches - Wildflower
72

This put me in such a good mood. It feels like going home on a friday. It kinda falls off after the first 6-7 tracks but it never gets bad. Just a little boring towards the end.

Kara Jackson - Why Does the Earth Give Us People to Love?
77

What a unique voice! This is such a soothing album that I'd put on if I was sitting in front of a fireplace or something. The title track is so beautiful.
