The production on this is so satisfying, it's more in line with Don's usual sound but this feels more layered
This is actually hard as fuck I might be lisetning to this might be my first Don Toliver album to check out in full.
A much more solid and fun release compared to their album before. The album starts with one of their best songs "Machu Picchu" and incredible banger that has probably the best bridge in a strokes song ever. "Under Cover of Darkness" is a great follow up song that carries the energy and has one of their best riffs. "Taken For A Fool" is one of my favorites with great writing and an incredible chorus. A lot of the highlights just show the fun and more adventurous ... read more
God what a mess of an album. This has easily the biggest separation from the strokes best material to their worst. It's clear from the sound of the album that they wanted to have more mainstream success but it makes the album sound like it's going for something big and grand but instead it sounds bloated and dull. But the best songs off the album really stop it from being their worst album. "You Only Live Once" is a fantastic start to the album that has an incredibly catchy hook and ... read more
So I remember listening to this album a lot as a kid, mainly because I found "Dream Sweet in Sea Major" on YouTube and got obsessed and then listened to this whole album without ever having any idea about the reputation of this album. So I was actually a little shocked finding how strong people feel about this album on both negative and positive perspectives. And coming back...I really don't have strong feelings about this album. I don't think it's like pretentious or over the top ... read more
Why does every song start with like seconds of silence I've never heard this on any other album it's literally every song. Anyways, It's pretty hard to improve or even try to make another album to the quality of their debut, and they didn't in my opinion but this is still some quality stuff. I think my problem with the majority of this album is that it's just doing what the first album did but in a slightly less interesting way, but there are some exceptions and great quality tracks even if ... read more
Crazy that a band can get their unique sound down perfectly on just their debut album. The Strokes sound like a fully formed band that knows what makes them special on their first album. "Is This It" is a classic indie album that holds the test of time, it definitely stays in it's lane and is definitely less adventurous and ambitious than other albums that are considered one of the best of all time but the sound and style is done with such effortless confidence that the album becomes ... read more
Holy shit this is a debut album, BCNR from the moment they released their first singles had already gotten a cult following and tons of praise. And I gotta say this album's hype really did live up, From their debut album Black Country, New Road create an identity to themselves, even with comparisons to Black Midi this album material really stands on it's own. "Instrumental" Is a great...instrumental, It lays out the experimental rock and post/art-rock sound palette in a fun way that ... read more
The first time I listened to this album was on the you tube music app in the middle of my game design class when I had nothing to do. I had already heard quite a few Radiohead songs before this that I enjoyed I had never done a full checkout of an album from. On a whim I just decided to check this out cause it seemed the most interesting to me, considering I heard about how it's "The Greatest Left Turn In Music", oh boy. But my god this album really is one hell of a ride for a first ... read more
The first listen of this song really astounded me. I wasn't sure if I even liked the song at first listen but it sounded like absolutely nothing else I had heard before. I had returned to this song so many times afterwards, everything about it was fascinating to me. The more I listened the more it grew onto me, and at this point I confidently call this song a masterpiece and my favorite song to come out of 2022. Quadeca really struck lightning in a bottle with this song and the record it comes ... read more
Probably the best song to release in 2022. It's perfectly written and produced and a beautiful heartful tribute to Capital Steez and what he stood for as an artist.
TM is the kind of album I was hoping they wouldn't end their life as a boyband with. I feel as though this was a half-hearted attempt to try to please the fans that weren't getting another album with the full group performing. This album is compilation of mainly songs from the TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES era of the boy band in 2020. A collection unofficially released songs broadcasted on streams they had, but instead of making a full complete experience it feels like a slashed together album that's ... read more
This is a very flawed album. There are some songs that are straight up not finished and shouldn't be on this record. But what this album stands for and the main subject matter in it is what is really makes this album seminal for anyone who wants to get into and understand the story of BROCKHAMPTON. Although the album had potential to be better the core idea of Kevin Abstract as the de-facto leader of the group rap for 35 minutes about the group and the troubles and highlights they had is a ... read more
My favorite album of all time and it's probably gonna stay that way. I got obsessed with Radiohead for over half a year. And alot of my opinions of the songs changed and varied over time. But what stayed constant is that I loved this album on first listen and I've found more and more things to love about it the more I listen. It feels like the absolute epitome of Radiohead's work and what they've been working on for years. It is their most accessible record but that doesn't mean any of the ... read more
This has got to be one of the best first album listens I've ever had. This album really does live up to the hype and is absolutely jaw dropping. Jeff Buckley's angelic and powerful one of a kind voice along with his beautifully written lyrics is an absolute powerhouse of musical euphoria. "Mojo Pin" left me in shock as an intro, everything about it is absolutely mesmerizing. the title track is actual perfection, down from the incredible guitar riffs, probably Jeff's most impressive ... read more
BLUE LIPS is tHe first full album I've dived into by ScHoolboy Q. I didn't quite know wHat to expect from tHe album, I know from all tHe songs I've Heard previous to my listen tHat ScHoolboy Has knack for being versatile but still Having a notable consistent personality to His work. And tHis album certainly sHowcases His versatility, THe two major sides of production are deep bass Heavy beats and jazz rap production. THis album isn't sometHing entirely conceptual, and it doesn't need to be tHat ... read more
