This is so good??? What a gem. I love the fusion of soul and shoegaze. I never thought of that combination before but it really works. Such beautiful music. It is VERY 90s, so I guess in that sense it might be seen as "outdated," but I love it. I find it be very innovative and unique. I love the saxophone on "Heather." So sensual and haunting. Just a very good album. Maybe could've been cut down a bit, but I honestly don't mind even the weaker tracks.
I've never heard music that more accurately embodied the psychosis that one experiences from unrequited love. I wish I had heard this when I had an unhealthy one-sided obsession with this bus driver in college but that's another story for another time.
This is my first full Mitski album (the cat intrigued me). She is a wonderful artist and I love the folky sound. "Cats" made me cry for some reason. It's possible that I just really love cats.
Actually good for a Christmas Carol album (I like how it's more traditional Christmas/Yuletide carols vibe and not really 20th century Christmas hits vibe), but it's possible that I am not in the Christmas mood. I don't know why I listened to this in March. I'll have to relisten around Christmas time. My favorite track is "Holly, Ivy, and Rose."
