the first step in the right direction for this band. pretty solid metalcore! i could argue it's not deathcore enough but it's ALMOST there. kind of surprising how much their sound changed considering Doom released just one year after this.
Almost flawless demo. The way cleans sound pisses me the fuck off though I don't feel like they fit at all with what they're going for, but instrumentally this short EP is better than most Melodic Metalcore I've heard, almost Broken By Silence (who I think are the best to ever do it) levels of good!

Fav songs: Steal a glimpse, So far so good
A whole lot better polished than CYB. The songs now have a clearer focus and structure instead of just mindless Gothenburg sound-esque riffs at 200 BPM. Way catchier and memorable, and for once, you can actually tell the songs apart from hearing a clip, something that didn't happen with CYB's sameness. A lot of really weird production decisions were made, which is understandable taking into account this was the band's first dive into more polished metalcore, however these ... read more
This album is a little less varied than their debut EP, often falling into just mindless B minor circlejerking and At The Gates worship riffing. But do i love that? Of course I fucking do. Though, It gets old fairly quickly and a lot of ideas here could've just been squished into a shorter EP just to balance things out a little better. Still a banger from start to finish!
Rating: 7/10
Fav songs: Pray For Plagues, Off the Heezay (no idea why that one is rated so low here)
This is the best thing this band has ever made in my opinion. It's unique, melancholic and memorable. Also fairly consistent for this band's standards, good job Sleep Token!

Fav song: When The Bough Breaks
(Edit: I noticed I was a little too generous with the rating lol)
I feel asleep to this one (during Descending) lol. It drags a lot and doesn't have too many remarkable tracks/memorable hooks.
Honestly? Not bad. Very catchy hooks and a couple tracks here and there i would revisit. Possibly some of the best you're gonna get in terms of variety inside Octanecore lol.
Also, Gods fucks hard.

Worst: Give
somehow even worse than their past works. only reason it's not getting a 0 is because i must admit Emergence is A BIT catchy and I've listened to it voluntarily a couple times. That track aside, FUCKING TERRIBLE.
And i find myself once more listening to this beautiful EP.
I discovered it barely a few weeks ago, but, i must admit, I'm in love. The soft clean guitar sections make perfect contrast with the more aggressive and distorted screamo parts. The female singer's voice is perfect, and, being Chilean myself, she has a very familiar sound to other local female singers I've heard in the past. The screamo verses/choruses are certainly weaker though.
Just like the the female vocals, the ... read more
Nu Metal if it was awesome.
Okay now, for real, this EP is unlike anything i had ever heard before and it still blows my mind to this day.
It's absolutely fucking brutal and rabid, it's like Slipknot Self-Titled but cranked up to 1000 in aggressiveness, also incorporating various Metalcore and Mathcore elements, which surprises me even more that it works as well as it does.
Lyrics suck mad horseshit and they're extremely cringe, but the delivery is so great i don't even ... read more
A bunch of bullshit songs sandwiched between like 6 good tracks is all i can say about this album. Extremely disappointing relisten after so long lol
Fav song - Top 10 statues that cried blood, YOUtopia
It's alright.
I feel like this album is way too overhated for the sole fact it's a Paleface record. Fear & Dagger set the bar considerably high in both heaviness and length, so i do understand why people would be bummed out because of the more Nu-Metally and melodic approach(also how surprisingly short this album is, at just a little under 30 mins). I really don't hate it and could even say i like the way it's executed in songs like Love Burns.
Sounds like a watered ... read more
Good, almost great Deathcore record. It's the kind of music that you just listen to without thinking too much, when all you wanna do is simply bang your head and hear some chugga chugga riffs with massive fucking breakdowns. This album kind of just beats the shit out of you and never stops.
Only issue with this is the fact that it drags for SO fucking long, like did this really need to be 1 hour and 6 minutes??? They could've cut some shit out and left it at around 30/40-ish minutes ... read more
being a fan of paleface swiss this is was honestly so disappointing.
i don't know what the fuck they were thinking when dropping like 3 singles out of such a short EP before it even released lmao that shit single handedly killed all the hype i could've ever possibly had for this thing.
songs are extremely mid. they just take the worst aspects of the few melodic tracks in cursed and amplify them by 100. it lacks aggressiveness and punch to a point it cannot be considered deathcore in ... read more
