Diffractions

Opals returns with a follow up LP that shines brighter this time around!

Earlier this year, Opals dropped a fairly good ambient project, "Shimmering", that tickled the right senses in my ears and I left with it pretty satisfied. This time around, "Diffractions" is much more pleasing and sonically well crafted ambient project than the previous. Across the 2 long tracks, each one shows the different types of ambient sound palettes. "𝄂 𝅍​◢​𝅋 𝅍​◣​𝅋 𝄃" is a long droning experience with an almost siren sounding synth playing throughout most of the track with the later half increasing the intensity and distortion, bringing it to a most electrifying experience and conclusion. "◂​◂​✼​◂​◂​✼​◂​◂" is a more calmer and soothing track to the ears and feels like a warm blanket hug. It feels like a chance of hope and coming to a sense of self reflection, knowing that everything will be okay in the end. Its soft almost distorted synths and pads play perfectly with each other, getting that right amount of ease and comfort. Both of these tracks are produced beautifully in my opinion and may be one of my favorite projects from them. Overall, I would say that for me, this was more structurally pleasing to my ears and more engaging in it's sound palette for me. Another well done ambient projects from Opals!
