I’ve had the Betamax beat ringing in my ears all day. Such a great song.
I Told Bessie is my second album from E L U C I D so far and he’s growing to become one of my favourite rappers to ever do it. From his work with Armand Hammer to hissolo work, I only seem to appreciate him more with every listen.
ITB is a tribute to his late grandmother Bessie. It’s sound; a nostalgic warmth, very cohesive (considering the many producers working on it). Made to be the perfect backdrop ... read more
Listening to I Told Bessie today gave me the motivation to revisit E L U C I Ds last album. I remember liking basically the entire thing except for the last 4 tracks, literally just those. Them alone ruined the album for me back when I listened to it for the first time.
Now (almost) a year later I’m coming back to this with a hell of a lot more context and a better developed ear. And it’s grown on me. A lot. It’s to the point where I now like the songs I didn’t like ... read more
When you think ”industrial hip hop”, The Money Store is most likely what comes to your mind. It speaks not only to how much of a staple death grips is in the genre but also to how much of a fucking classic this has grown to become.
Loud, in your face, boundary pushing—enjoyed best while dancing.
HUMAN ERROR CLUBSs debut under Backwoodz is the perfect soundtrack to a misty Sunday morning. Atmospheric, raw, meditative.
Boldy James and Alchemist reached a peak right here that neither one of them were able to top throughout both of their careers.
Jay Worthy hooks you in with the juicy looking feature list and then it’s all just 45 minutes of slop, but what did I even expect
Dilip and ZelooperZ is back with their second collab album and it’s luckily a continuation of everything that made Valley of Life so great. Over the top trap beats—the type only Dilip can cook up—with crazy energy from Ze who even got some great singing cuts here. I just love this duo man and I’m hoping that we can get more stuff from them in the future.
La Reezy isn't really that great of a rapper, but luckily producer PJ Morton creates the optimal backdrop for the enthusiastic 21 year old. Catchy choruses and high energy makes for a fun little EP.
At this point it feels like I get less enjoyment from Conway with every album I hear from him. It’s the exact opposite for me with his brother, Westside Gunns >2021 shit just keeps on aging like fine wine.
A lot more duds here than on last springs The Round Table but Knowledge is still doing his typical thing. If you dig what he does, it’s always worth checking out his new stuff. If you don’t, I don’t see this being worth your time.
Bennys sophomore album is the most impressive one I’ve heard from the griselda rapper so far. Even if I’m generally not the biggest fan of Hit-Boys production - on here he’s mostly producing pretty dope stuff especially One Way Flight man that beat makes me levitate.
There's less music and more bs with every release. Not even going to dive into any lyrics on this one in order to save myself from going insane.
Decent mixtape from Destroy Lonely but the problem lies with him always choosing the dryest fucking beats, it results in half of the album running in one ear and out the other. He needs to step-up with his beat selection and take some more risks because there’s countless of rappers doing pretty much the same thing he does but 10x better.
Theravada is not only an outstanding producer, he is also a good rapper able to create dope cohesive projects.
Most of these songs feels half baked and directionless, even if Anysia can sing and Seltzer can cook great beats this was a whole nothing burger to me.
Duwap Kaine is the most locked in rapper this year next to Boldy, shi last time I even thought of this guy was back in January when he dropped Nobody Is Coming To Save You, and since then he's released 3 more albums. I don't know how all 3 of them went under my radar especially since they've been received well, but anyway luckily these 2 last weeks have been dry af for hip hop so it gave me some time to check this out. Aaand I like it. It's only that to me, a lot of this is ... read more
