lorde has been one of my favorite artists since i was 10, and it seems that i haven’t outgrown her, but that she’s outgrown me with this new era. this album is not nearly as creative as her previous works, and the production falls flat. it seems every song follows the same pattern and buildup, and honestly the only people i can imagine listening to this album are white middle aged moms who appropriate hinduism and do yoga in their sunrooms.
This album is a masterpiece. It is full of intense emotions. It is grief-stricken, heartbroken, yet fun and witty. I may be biased as I have loved this album since early childhood, but every time I revisit it I am swept away.
