What an interesting release 9 years after Loreen's previous album. I dislike being negative because we finally got an album. At the same time, it does not live up to the expectations and is not good enough for a 9-year wait. I wish she had incorporated her roots more into this album.

Very impressive debut coming from someone who was 16 at the time. I used to be obsessed with this album. I listened to it on repeat, bought the CD, and I have returned to it many times during the 2010s. Reflecting on the album today, it is not as exciting as it once was, mainly because I no longer relate to the slightly angsty, edgy, outcast vibe, and I stopped using Tumblr many years ago.
When many people thought Madonna did not have more to give, or that she was "over", she released her magnum opus and possibly the greatest "rebirth" album of all time. The production is beautiful and transcendent. The lyrics are vulnerable, reflective, and free-flowing. Her voice is angelic and soft, yet strong. The melodies are timeless.
Ray of Light is my favorite pop album, and I cannot bring myself to give this album anything lower than 95. Legendary magnum opus.
