If I'm being honest, I didn't listen to this for ages because the snippets I heard sounded like Rocket League, Reddit mod style music. But after the consistent reminders from friends and social media that this album is actually excellent I decided to just give it a shot.
And wow, this could be the best produced album I've ever heard. I though the concept of the album would be offputting but I didn't find that at all.
iPod Touch and Fuck My Computer are so so good back to ... read more
Such a long wait for a Baby Keem project only for him to randomly announce a whole album just weeks before. Nonetheless the album is great. Similar on quality to the melodic blue but very different stylistically. Baby Keem tries a new sound on this album but clearly doesn't stray far from his typical style and I don't have an issue with that.
Ca$ino could be his best song ever both production and performance wise, just a shame it had to be followed by birds and the bees which, for ... read more
Unreal stuff. Hope these are on their next album cause if it sounds like this it's peak.
Slightly disappointed but not surprised with the lead single, I hoped after Dracula the album would be a dance version of the slow rush.
Whilst it’s not a psychedelic rock album he does psychedelic edm insanely well, if this album was by Daft Punk or Fred Again.. probably would have gotten higher.
Funky but lacks guitar, glad we got some new music from him though.
I wanted to like this and it might be by preconceived idea of Taylor Swift's music but jesus this album is painfully mediocre. Some songs certainly stand out; 'the fate of Ophelia', 'Opalite' and 'Wood' are significantly better than every other track and are dragging this rating up to where it is.
None of these songs sound like Taylor made them, 'Wood' sounds like if the Jackson 5 replaced Michael with Sabrina Carpenter and 'Actually ... read more
Slop. Predictable. Awful.
Those are a few words that come to mind when I heard this piece of utter garbage. The Big Goodbye might be one of the most unlistenable songs I've heard. Why ruin a mediocre song with that god awful sample or backing vocal whatever the hell that it.
"525, really give me 30" okay. I'll give you 30. And that's generous btw.
It's nice to see JID not fall into the trap of trying to replicate an amazing album and instead continue to try and develop his sound.
The album starts off fairly experimental for JID standards and soon falls into that RnB sound we're used to from 'The Forever Story'. The production of JID's albums throughout his career have been consistently improving and that hasn't changed here. I would say this is the best production I have heard on a JID album so far ... read more
Instantly I appreciate the change of pace from conceptual Tyler albums to a fun light one.
This album is a lot of fun and could've gotten a much higher score had it been longer or some more exciting features had been chosen. That being said, the features performed very well and were chosen selectively but just didn't have the impact a Playboi Carti or a Daniel Caesar would have had on me.
Overall a strong album with a great vibe and I look forward to more surprise Tyler drops.
Whilst it's a big ask for him to top Care For Me, this didn't quite get there for me.
At the same time, though, this is still a near-flawless album. The singles were so good, I was worried the rest of the album wouldn't live up to that quality, safe to say it did not disappoint.
The NoID production feels nostalgic but still modern and fits well with Saba's vocals and this album is another example of how underrated Saba is as an artist.
The only issue is that Hue_man ... read more
Quite easily the best indie rock album I have ever heard.
Coming off Skinty Fia, there were reasonably big shoes to fill but if anything, they've screwed themselves cause I don't see them topping this masterpiece.
The initial industrial, lonely sound which eventually develops into a more complete sound in the final track 'Favourite' the overall sound of the project is coherent with meaningful lyrics and very different sounds throughout the course of the project.
I would ... read more
It has to be said, a 5 year wait for a 30 song album where 5 or 6 songs could easily be cut is annoying, but the rest of the album makes up for it for sure.
These beats are something else, production is unmatched and these features were mostly (uzi excluded) great. Kendrick was surprisingly good, Skepta was unreal. Overall the album obviously isn't strong lyrically but who cares that's not the point, it's hype and Carti is back, cant wait for his next project MORE MUSIC 2035
As far as the Weeknd goes I'm disappointed.
Mike Dean's production of course is flawless in combination with Metro too. It's just sad how he uses some of these beats with a crazy switch into some bland vocals which we hear throughout the whole album. I was hoping this album would be a culmination of his sound throughout his career but instead, it's like Dawn FM with a bit of trilogy in there.
For me, the second half of the album, other than a couple of songs, was bloated ... read more
Vince really stepped his production up on this album compared to others but in doing so potentially took away from his performances on certain tracks.
That being said, this album at its heart is a hip-hop and r&b album but the experimental and industrial hints spread throughout the project really keep it fresh. The storytelling across the album is amazing and the looping of the album adds a lot to the story.
This album is the perfect mix of psychedelic and trap music with a good amount of chill and hype songs.
The production from Mike Dean throughout and elements of Tame Impala is infectious as well as the beautiful vocal mixing and bouncing from ear to ear. The best part of the production is the beat switches throughout to keep the album fresh. Additionally the features are great and curated very well. ASTROTHUNDER is a clear standout track for me, one of the best beats I’ve ever heard and ... read more
I have a strong connection to this album, despite the split reception upon release I have always found this an amazing album.
Despite the score not reflecting some of the songs on here are my favourites from Travis. This album has heavy replay value and half the tracklist has been in my rotation since release. The mix of industrial and trap production shows Travis’ range which after ASTROWORLD people may not have been aware of, additionally Travis’ vocal performances and mixing is ... read more
Such a refreshing album in terms of indie rock, really cool sounds, novelties.
This album is so refreshing. Every song has a unique sound and is both quintessentially indie rock and the furthest thing from it. There are some amazing moments like on spiders, boyfriend, boarding pass, etc. that really add to the overall experience of the album. I can safely say I was the furthest thing from disappointed, whilst not every song was up to the quality of the singles there were little flaws across ... read more
