Great addition to a great album. Hearing Ariana sing in her lower register is like seeing an old friend.
EUSEXUA is transcendently seductive and another milestone in the illustrious discography of FKA twigs. The concept hooks you in by the mesmerizing title-track (which was a perfect choice for an opener), with the album succeeding in keeping that momentum afloat throughout most of the 11 tracks. This album is another reminder that no one does — or ever will — do it like Twigs.
On CAPRISONGS, FKA twigs takes a different approach on the introspectiveness of her music through lively conversations with friends and easier soundscapes than those on her previous album, MAGDALENE. It is no MAGDALENE, but it works just as well and allowed for twigs to take herself less seriously while her fierce artistry remains present.
This works as a fun pop record, but the lack of profundity in both its sound and lyricism often left me looking for more.
Preacher’s Daughter is a masterclass in storytelling that cements Ethel Cain as a one-of-a-kind artist. The only album I have ever cried to.
Not my style but I am shocked I like this project. It’s no Preacher’s Daughter and anyone going into this record comparing it to PD is setting themselves up for disappointment. Punish and Vacillator are my favorite tracks, and it doesn’t even feel that long but many of these songs could have been cut short. The track lengths come off as pretentious at times.
In a year where some of pop music's biggest names drop some of their most lackluster records, BRAT feels like a breath of fresh air. The vulnerability and honesty displayed throughout this record elevates Charli from her peers.
