Vince Staples - Cry Baby

Can't always pull your punches, sometimes you have to strike full force.

Vince Staples is one of my favorite rappers ever and throughout his career he has been known to be an insanely blunt person who always cuts right to the point. This fact is something that "Cry Baby" shows off more than ever, to the point that bluntness is this album's lifeblood.

Vince chose to cut the middleman out entirely and make his statement without a single chance of misinterpretation. This was ... read more

Latto's "retirement" album, is much of the same for an artist who honestly hasn't done enough to leave behind a lasting legacy

Also can we please stop giving sexxy redd features I didn't even hate her that much early on but the novelty has completely worn off

Best: Business and Persoanl, Okayyy, Somebody

Worst: Naked, Make Me, Need Luv 2

A dark undertone forms a comforting dream

Music when stripped to its most general parts is made of vocals and productions. The person singing and the production that supports them is what makes up nearly every song. So what happens when all of your vocals are chops from samples and the atmosphere of the album must rely on production alone?

A masterpiece is formed that's what happens

I have zero experience with Boards of Canada outside of this record, so this may be common with their ... read more

Artists becoming a caricature of themselves: It's a lot more common than you may think

Jpegmafia is somebody who is genuinely bursting with talent, particularly as a producer and he does not hesitate to flaunt that fact. This has, despite his antics made him one of my favourite rappers in recent years, with "Scaring the Hoes" being one of my favourite albums released this decade. Unfortunately, a shift in the artist I grew fond of that has been brewing for a long time finally ... read more

Bland, vapid music that make no attempt at anything ever. At least Maid of Honour was funny
